I am a CBT therapist with over 10 years experience working in the NHS. If you are struggling emotionally or finding it hard to cope with various parts of your life, I can work with you to help you make sense of what is going on and understand how it is impacting on your life. We can look at what is keeping the problem going and what can be changed or managed differently. Sometimes it's helpful to think about how the problem started and life experiences that are significant to it. CBT tends to focus on the here and now, but can also involve re-examining past experiences e.g. to help process trauma or alter long held beliefs.
CBT focuses on our thoughts, behaviours and physiology, and how these interlink with our emotions. Therapy can include examining our thought processes, experimenting with new behaviours, processing emotions and developing helpful ways of managing these. I like to incorporate approaches such as mindfulness, self-compassion and working with images in our mind.
The approach we take is decided collaboratively and we work together in therapy. I provide a warm, compassionate and supportive space to facilitate your therapeutic journey.
