Nancy Freeborne, DrPH, MPH, PA-C, has more than 30 years of expertise as a community health center director, clinician, university educator, and consultant. Her research focuses on social influences on health.

Dr. Freeborne obtained a Physician Assistant (PA) degree from the George Washington University (GWU) after receiving a biology undergraduate degree. She began practice as a PA in hospitals and then transitioned to work in outpatient primary care. Her clinical interests are in geriatrics and women’s health. Passionate about both her patients and young people who aspired to a career in healthcare, Dr. Freeborne returned to GWU to obtain Master’s and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degrees. Her graduate degrees enabled Dr. Freeborne to become an educator and senior administrator, first at GWU and subsequently at George Mason University (GMU), where she continues to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses as an adjunct professor of Health Administration. In addition to teaching and advising students, Dr. Freeborne travels across the country, serving as a healthcare consultant, evaluating Federally-funded community health clinics that prioritize serving vulnerable patients.

Throughout her academic and professional careers Dr. Freeborne has been active as a published author, speaker and blogger on a wide variety of issues related to geriatrics, women’s health, public health and community health centers. Dr. Freeborne has been published in scholarly journals and professional organization proceedings and has been an invited speaker at healthcare community conferences for more than 20 years.
