Judith Matloff teaches conflict reporting at Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism. She has pioneered safety training for women and media around the world, helping hundreds of journalists survive an increasingly dangerous world. Her fourth book, How to Drag a Body and Other Safety Tips You Hope to Never Need, offers strategies for nearly every peril imaginable.

Her stories about war and violence have appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, The Economist, The Los Angeles Times, and The Wall Street Journal. A graduate of Harvard, Matloff's four books have been supported by the MacArthur Foundation, the Fulbright Scholar Program, the Logan Nonfiction Fellowship, and Stanford’s Hoover Institution. She lives in New York City with her husband and son.
