The number one “rule” we therapists follow is autonomy for our clients – you lead the sessions, make your decisions, and allow yourself to have space and time to unburden yourself. Of course, we therapists are there to assist you through this journey. Mental health therapy is a journey to explore and become self-aware of the whys of what we do. My goal is to guide you through that journey when you need assistance.

What is most important to me is building a strong, therapeutic relationship built upon a base of authenticity, respect, and trust to facilitate positive change to meet each individual’s personal goals.
I have many years of experience working with early childhood trauma and severe, persistent mental illness, varying from ages of 5 years to 70+. My goal is to empower and advocate for positive change within you, as the individual, and the system as a whole. The place that we will create together is a safe and judgement free space. I work through an Existential foundation, to help those I work with seek meaning and purpose, with skills built from experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, all within the context of a trauma-informed approach.

Other issues that clients frequently discuss in session include: life transitions, grief and loss, work stress, relationship and family conflict, low self-worth, intimacy issues, and exploration of sexuality or gender identity.
Do you spend time thinking about the past or constantly worried about the future? Do you seek to know yourself better? I help people change the habits and behaviors that are not serving them, so they can lead more peaceful and balanced lives here in the present moment. We will work together to understand how your past informs who you are now, but does not define it. I help clients identify their negative thinking patterns that have kept them stuck in their lives. Together we will generate new, rational alternatives that will help you gain perspective about the life you want to be living.

Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or life transitions, I offer a supportive environment where we can work together toward healing and growth.
During life's most challenging moments, we can feel overwhelmed and weighed down, making it hard to navigate through our experiences. This can result in various difficulties that impact our ability to find joy in life. As a counselor, my aim is to simplify the counseling journey. While it involves exploring sensitive issues that may be difficult to discuss, my goal is to provide support and guidance as we work together towards your healing and personal growth over time.

I draw heavily from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy and Feminist Therapy; however, I also believe that the therapeutic relationship we develop will likely be the most healing aspect of counseling.
"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." --Maya Angelou. Suffering is often silent. We hold back our sadness, loneliness, resentment & shame. We think that pushing these feelings aside will allow us to live the life we desire. Yet, if you find yourself unable to move forward, I would be honored to sit alongside you as you process your story. Your pain. Your joy. Your sorrow, self-doubt and hatred. It is my goal that through my nonjudgmental ear you feel seen, heard, accepted & cared for. It is in this space that we can overcome the hardships of your past or future, & embrace the light that is within you.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
