My goal is to create a safe and affirming space to facilitate growth and self-exploration and to support and meet you where you are in life. Together, we can look into what brought you into counseling, take your values into consideration and help build coping and mindfulness skills in order to navigate life or manage stress. Sometimes we need a safe and unbiased space to go to in order to talk about what we are going through and to encourage growth in new ways. It’s important to take care of our mental health just as we take care of our physical health.

"What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you" - Ralph Waldo Emerson. I know it may seem impossible right now to let go of your inner demons and overcome the trauma you have been through, but the first step is opening up and releasing these fears. I am hear to provide you a safe place and a listening ear while we work together to move forward and solve the problems you may be facing. As a woman, veteran, military spouse, working mother, daughter-in-law, sister, and friend I am here to help you.

Loss is a universal experience whether associated with moves, jobs, health, disability, developmental stage, divorce, addiction, neglect, physical/sexual abuse, or death. And, yet, most of us weren't given the tools to navigate and transform loss. Well meaning people may negate our experience with platitudes such as "God never gives you more than you can handle." As a licensed clinical social worker for over thirty years and a mother who has grieved and recovered from the death of her youngest son, I have a particular passion for and expertise in working with those who are grieving.

From time to time we all get trapped in patterns and ways of thinking and feeling that don't feel good to us. Therapy provides a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental connection that allows you to better understand yourself: your feelings, thought patterns, and relationships with others. While the primary goal of therapy is to find relief from your immediate distress, the self-knowledge you will gain in therapy will help you cope with problems that arise long after therapy is over. I view therapy as a unique, collaborative process in which you work toward discovering your own truths, great and small.

Therapy is a process that allows for healing and awareness. I practice heart-centered hypnotherapy along with other holistic practices. These experiential practices provide a gateway to release stuck traumas, which ultimately create the habitual patterns that may not be serving your higher self. You can rediscover your personal power and learn how to internally resource, seeing all the choices available to you when challenges in your life are happening. In committing to this process, you can step into your own energy and reclaim your authentic self.

I have been working with individuals coping with grief, trauma and anxiety for 20 +years and recognize the difficulty the toll takes on the body and mind. I use a blend of biofeedback, EMDR, cognitive therapy and neurofeedback to alleviate symptoms and to build your strengths. However, the most important information for you to know is that it is not too late to find relief.

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in Ohio are psychologists, licensed counselors, therapists, psychotherapists, and licensed clinical social workers, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualized treatment.

Services offered, education and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in Ohio then may specialize in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counseling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.

How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in Ohio, or Child Psychologists in Ohio.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like Ohio psychologists specializing in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in Ohio specialize in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Finding a psychologist or therapist who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

How to use my insurance?
Many therapists accept health insurance. Check to see if your insurance is covered. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the therapist.
