My approach to therapy is a strong belief in the resiliency of the human spirit. I feel my client is the expert on who he/she is and my role is to facilitate greater learning and growth in a collaborative way through the therapeutic relationship. I have almost 20 years in the field and utilize various modalities to assist my client in his/her journey toward growth and healing. I work with individuals--children, teens, and adults--struggling with life adjustments, family issues, past trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders. I have experience working with First Responders.

Life can be tough all on its own and when you add traumatic experiences the world can feel stacked against you. Maybe you are just struggling with something that you could use some help sorting through. Perhaps you feel distant from your partner and want to improve your relationship. I can help. I work with individuals, couples and families who are experiencing life adjustment struggles, anxiety, depression, ADHD, infidelity, PTSD and other traumas. My counseling style has been described as caring, compassionate and effective. I have found that most clients want to be heard and accepted as they deal with personal life issues. I believe all counseling is teaching the client or couple new and better ways of enjoying their life. My wife, Linda and I have been married 54 years and have two adult children and five adult grandchildren. I was a former teacher, school counselor and athletic coach.

I am here to listen with empathy as I try to see the world from your view. I want to help you change your unwanted thoughts, feelings, and action. Throughout our lives people go through hard times. Perhaps we were bullied or in a car accident, we had a poor childhood or past abuse. If the event was repetitive or shocking our mind gets stuck. Then anything that reminds us of the event brings back the feeling, thoughts anger or pain. When we reprocess the stuck trauma with BLS (EMDR, tappers, or headphones), with the knowledge of the present, we can let go of the feelings of the past. We are left with a sad story without the hurt.

If you are looking for a counselor who does not just sit and listen, then I am the Counselor for you, your child our your family. I believe that each person entering counseling needs a unique safe and secure space to grow and change. I offer this space, to allow the change that is needed to occur.

I have experience working with adults and children with various diagnoses including depression, anxiety, anger issues, Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, ADHD, and adjustment/life transition concerns. I was trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD in 2015 and have had training in CBT. I am EMDR trained as of August 2023 as well. I love working with active-duty military members, veterans, and their families.

I genuinely care about working with others who are striving to find happiness. I work with individuals and couples who might be struggling to reach resolution, accept themselves, or find internal peace of mind. I am partial to using a creative and experimental approach with clients. However, depending on their situation, I'm more than happy to make adjustments as needed. My services include counseling couples, finding one's authentic self, adjustment issues, and grief counseling.
