I serve the community by providing interpersonal psychotherapy with a solution focused approach. The population I currently serve is a variety of adults and seniors, with dual diagnosis and intellectual disabilities. I do have experience with adolescents and younger children in a school setting for high behaviors. My practice is geared to those who are tired of feeling stigmatized, exhausted of living for others and wanting to become their true genuine self. Fifteen years ago, in my late 20s, I faced an existential crisis. The pain and shame of knowing I was meant for more—more happiness, meaning, and purpose—without knowing how to get there was overwhelming. At times, terrifying. With the help of others, I discovered my unique path to an authentic, self-led life. My mission as a therapist is to return that gift. I believe we all have an innate ability to heal from past wounds, rewrite our inner story, and reunite with a sense of self that feels whole, connected, and fulfilled.

I know sometimes it feels like no one can help you. That you are too much, too dark, and too broken to be helped. Sometimes trauma can manifest by cutting, eating disorders, depression, chaos, and a real struggle to maintain friendships. It can be hard to even picture what a stable and consistent life would look like, but it's still something you want. Chaotic feelings feel like they take over you and you struggle to make it through each day. You want to live but still feel suicidal. This is all normal for someone with trauma, someone who has been through abuse, someone who has experienced broken relationships and even toxic ones.

This includes growing the capacity to be with your internal experience, as it is, without the need to numb or distract in ways that are destructive or self-harming. I believe that the therapeutic relationship itself is integral to the healing that takes place in therapy. When we feel safe enough to trust and open up, then we can begin the work we need to do on ourselves.

There are times where life presents tremendous challenges that can feel and seem insurmountable. Childhood wounding, insecure attachment, abuse, discrimination, divorce/separations, existential crisis, and transition to motherhood can be overwhelming. Often our family, friends, and larger community, if we are connected to them, do not know to help or are compromised themselves and cannot. This is when the proverbial "sh*t hits the fan." In some larger way, we might be able to see what is happening as an opportunity to grow, but what has happened or is happening is so painful we need strong support to get through and grow from it.

I believe that all humans have greatness within themselves; it's important to work with a therapist who sees yours (even if you or others do not). I work well with young adults to seniors who are leery about seeking help, feel coaxed in to counseling, or who have had bad experiences in the past. I strive to make you feel comfortable so you can be honest with me - and yourself - about your problems, mood complaints, or substance use. Others tell me they immediately sense my genuineness and non-judgmental character.

I enjoy working with adults and adolescents who have substance use issues, co-occurring disorders, and/or individuals who have experienced trauma. I use EMDR and IFS techniques to help individuals process their trauma so that they can go on to live healthy, happy, and productive lives. I also see clients struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, and eating disorders. I have a therapy dog, Ember, who works with me at both of my offices.

My clients are individuals, couples or families who want to improve their emotional wellness. They might be going through a challenging period in their life, may struggle with interpersonal relationships, conflict at work, or they may be looking to improve their marital or family dynamics. Ultimately, they possess the tools they need to improve their lives - through therapy, we bring those tools to life.

I genuinely care about my clients’ well-being, and I entered this field to help people solve challenging problems that require a skilled, compassionate, non-judgmental professional. As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Clinical Fellow with the AAMFT, I have counseled individuals, couples, families, and groups for over 20 years. I also speak decent Spanish and work with clients ages 4 and up. If you prefer nonverbal therapy over talk, I employ Jungian Sandplay Therapy and Expressive Arts. Since we're a non-profit, we strive to serve people of all socio-economic levels and offer rates based on ability to pay.

I'm passionate about working with people who want to develop their full potential and leave behind the obstacles that have been holding them back. I use neurofeedback with talk therapy and brainspotting for the most efficient and comprehensive approach to personal transformation. My ideal therapy client is someone struggling to improve their self or relationship, and needing a way to facilitate this change and process thoughts and emotions.

I provide therapy from a whole health perspective. This means understanding the mind-body connection. I want to help you better understand, recognize, process, cope, and heal from challenging emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. I use a person-centered approach which means I walk beside you in this journey, not ahead of you or behind you. Whether you are new to therapy or you are experienced with therapy, it can still feel overwhelming, uncomfortable, and hard to be vulnerable when meeting with a therapist and talking about your deepest feelings, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
