Life seems to be turned upside down. Daily stress, worry of finances and not knowing what is going to happen next, is pushing you over the edge. You have not thought of yourself as an anxious person, but now it’s difficult to contain the worry. Life before did not feel lonely but now you feel alone. You have decided it is time to work through the deeper things that you have been pushing to the back burner for too long. You want to feel like you can breathe again and have peace.

For the last twenty three years I have provided services to individuals and couples with a broad range of mental health concerns. I like to avoid placing labels on people and tend to focus on presenting problems. I believe in helping people find their inner strengths and assist individuals in using those strengths to move toward recovery. I have experience in helping those with mood, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse and relationship problems, to supporting those struggling to cope with severe and persistent mental illness or psychotic issues.

As a helper, my guiding values are to meet clients where they are at and to honor the inherent dignity and worth of every person I encounter. I believe that the power of therapy lies in the process. As we work together, we will uncover and identify pieces of your internal landscape and external world that shape who you are and how you view and interact with the world. From there, we will use those insights to empower you as we head toward the intention of helping you feel a stronger sense of self and overall wellness.

We all go through times of sef-doubt, depression and anxiety. Life change can amplify these. I believe all feelings are valid, because we are feeling them. What we think about them can be harmful or helpful in a situation. Being very present creates calm as we are in the situation as it happens rather than in the past or future thinking about what we did or will do. This practice strengthens relationships as well as offers personal insight and growth. My job as the therapist is to allow my clients a place to explore the space in their heads. I help clients accept and understand their emotions creating new behavior patterns.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family therapy. I believe in the power of hope. I have been seeing clients for over 7 years in many different situations. I have a person centered and systemic approach, meaning that every part of a person's system from family to job, school, community, is an important part of understanding underlying issues and concerns. When we understand how we came to feel or think about things, we can work to adapt thoughts feelings and thoughts in ways that serve us more productively.

My approach to therapy is holistic in nature. What affects our minds, affects our emotions, our bodies, our spiritual self, and our relationships with others. I follow the premise that we as human beings are whole at our core. Due to life experiences, we learn to "disown" the parts of ourselves that we do not like. To aid in this process of becoming whole again, I utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, and Jungian theory. As you become whole again, you grow. As you grow, you become wiser and better able to handle the challenges of life.

We are all born with nature strengths and I feel it's essential to use those traits to our advantage.

Hi! My specialty is in trauma and complex trauma. What does that mean? Well, what trauma is to each person is different but there are levels that do take one to severe disruption in their daily lives. This disruption is where I want to help people discover how to define what it is, work to find a way to manage the chaos and emerge with a hope that life can be all that they desire. The person that struggles with this will understand what I am describing and be intrigued to meet with me to see if we are a therapy fit. This holds true in any of the many areas of therapy that I have listed as I have experience and passion to help.

Making the initial phone call to seek counseling can be one of the most difficult things to do. I have worked with many clients who initially avoid counseling because of fear, shame, or anxiety around sharing their experience. My hope is to be a safe place to process the ups and downs of life. If you are unsure, be encouraged that you have already taken the first courageous step by looking. By taking the next step, you will find that there is hope on the other side.

Only you can truly appreciate how you came to be the person you are today. We can choose to engage in life and with each other from a position of fear or a position of possibility. I believe counseling is all about possibility - the possibility of discovering your voice, the possibility of seeing something new in your reflection, the possibility of personal growth, and the possibility of finding your own deep light.

Evening Appointments Available - It can be heartbreaking to see your child/ teen struggling, and when they are struggling with such overwhelming emotions as depression, anxiety, anger, etc. we can feel so helpless. However, you and your child are not alone, and you've made it this far, which says a lot! I would love to partner with your family to add support, and offer a space for your child/ teen to sort through all of those overwhelming emotions, and behaviors that can accompany those emotions. Sometimes a little extra, professional support, and a well thought out path for how to get to a better place can make a big difference.

How can I find a therapist in Weld County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
