However, I've shifted my focus to providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) after my own struggles with falling and staying asleep.
If you are struggling to fall asleep, stay asleep, or experiencing poor quality sleep, CBT-I has the potential to help you reclaim your sleep - often with less effort than you've most likely already been putting in. I look forward to hearing from you and working together to help you become a good sleeper again.

You show up for others every day—patients, clients, family, friends—but who shows up for you? If you're a physician, therapist, nurse, caregiver, or parent facing chronic stress, anxiety, or exhaustion, you're not alone—and it’s not your fault. Many of my clients feel stuck in survival mode, constantly “on,” mentally overloaded, and worn down by unrelenting demands. They’re exhausted but can’t relax, lying awake replaying stressors. It often feels like their nervous system is in control—not them. I help those who care for others—professionally or personally—find relief, restore energy, and reconnect with what matters most.

Do you find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, even when you’re trying hard to do things differently? Maybe you feel emotionally disconnected or unsure how to trust yourself or others. I’m a trauma-informed therapist who works with individuals and couples seeking deeper self-understanding and more secure, meaningful connections. At times I show up as a witness to support and understand you, other times I show up as a guide offering specific tools or perspectives. Together, we explore how past experiences shape your present and how to move forward with greater clarity, self-compassion, and confidence.

Hi my name is Brandi! Creating a connection with someone who can hold the space and listen with empathy and compassion is the most important aspect when looking for a counselor. It is not easy to open up about areas of our lives that are painful. Showing up for counseling takes great strength and I admire my clients willingness to allow me to be part of their process. I offer my clients a safe non-judgmental space to discuss and process difficult subjects and themes that show up throughout life.

I always say, the best tool in your tool box is your imagination, but it can create or destroy. I like to work with a person's imagination using Art Therapy and creative visualization to put that tool to good use in "creating a life worth living" (a line from CBT). I use mindfulness and Metta, a way of generating self love, forgiveness and compassion. I use techniques drawn from Internal Family Systems and Motivational Interviewing, ACT, nervous system and neurobiology. My goal is integration of body, mind, heart and spirit toward whole being wellness.

My ideal client is a high achiever who has tried to muscle through stress on their own, but finally feels ready to hear different perspectives and coping skills to approach their challenges differently. My background is working with a variety of athletes from elite to recreational levels for both personal and performance-based concerns. I am also passionate about working through depression, anxiety, breakups, loss of identity, life changes, and grief/loss. Grief requires being witnessed to heal, and I would be honored to witness and work through your grief with you.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
