Emotions impact and affect the body causing us to hold them on a physical level. I work with the mind-body connection, utilizing mindfulness techniques, Neurofeedback/EEG Biofeedback, EMDR, breath work, and meditation, viewing the body as a whole to address trauma, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. As a somatic therapist, I combine these techniques to help clients become aware of trauma stored in the body, and work to resolve the trauma and empower the client. I engage the wisdom of the body to heal trauma, depression and anxiety, and move through life transitions by unifying the mind-body connection.

Are you suffering? I want you to know that you are not alone. We alI have painful experiences. They are part of the human condition. I believe it’s what we do with these difficulties that determines not only the extent of our suffering, but how we are able to transform our pain and loss into strength, power, and growth. The most impactful experience we can provide each other is to be fully present and listen to one another's stories with open hearts and minds. Through transformative relationships we find hope and effect change.

I work best with people who want to feel more connected to themselves, others, and the world and struggle with generally feeling "stuck" in their lives. This can show up as anxiety, loneliness, depression, repeating unhelpful patterns in relationships, or a variety of other behaviors that prevent you from living the life you desire. Together, we will explore what is keeping you stuck and work to build a life that supports connection and is more aligned with your most authentic self.

I work with clients who want to find themselves again. Maybe it's depression, trauma, or life changes. Or it could be less specific, like being lonely or not being able to manage your stress - we can help you reconnect your head and your heart. I believe in the healing power of nature and experience, and use both in a way that will help you heal and finally find yourself again. What will you do with your one Wild and precious Life? (- Mary Oliver.)

Life can feel heavy in different ways. For some, it's the weight of grief, anxiety, trauma, or depression. For others, it's subtler — cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, or a quiet ache that something more meaningful is possible. Wherever you're starting from, this work meets you. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and sensitive — searching for deeper authenticity, a clearer sense of self, or a spiritual and emotional life that actually feels alive. If you feel things deeply, question old identities, or find yourself at a crossroads where the old map no longer fits, this work may speak to you.

Many common psychiatric symptoms are your body's way of saying things are out of balance. It doesn't mean you need meds, it means you need to learn how to get your body and brain back in balance so you can feel comfortable in your own skin, and become empowered to opt out of chronic illness and lost opportunities. I always say you deserve to feel your healthiest and absolute best all the time. I'd love to help you on your healing journey.

I'm certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and I'm a Spiritual Director trained SMU Perkins School of Theology.
For over 30 years, I’ve had the opportunity to listen as clients shared their story and trusted me to help. As an integrative therapist, I draw from a large and diverse “tool bag” of research-supported methods and strategies to help people gain insight, heal, develop skills, and strengthen the resilience they need to be happier, healthier, and improve their relationships. Some of my clients are seeking help for depression, anxiety, or recovery from past trauma. Others are looking to build coping skills and obtain support through a difficult time. I use a secure teletherapy platform to see clients in both Texas and Colorado.

I am a neurodivergent LGBTQ+ therapist who loves working with individual adults who are curious about themselves and who are ready to look at their past, including any trauma that has impacted their life. I am trained in EMDR which is a powerful treatment modality that helps process traumatic or distressing events and memories. I use assessments that are validated to ensure I understand what you are experiencing. As we work together, I will ask about what is working best for you and will tailor my approach as needed.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
