ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS: Whatever you resist will persist! I invite those who have an open mind for new ideas and seek to create long-lasting success to start that journey today. I believe that individuals have the right to achieve and be all they desire. We have the power and capacity to make a decision about what we are going to tolerate in our lives. I challenge each of us to get into a great, beautiful state of thinking, and living and fully enjoy the fruits of our labors. I believe that knowledge is only potential power, and we become powerful when we are courageous enough to execute that knowledge.

Addiction and its accompanying issues make life a struggle for both the client and for those who love them. Those in active addiction intuitively know there is a gap between the life they're demonstrating and the possibilities their potential affords - if they could only get out of their own way. My methods promote profound fundamental change: the shedding of self-destructive attributes, the definition of a clear, compelling vision for the future, and the tools clients need to implement strategies that will enable them to become the best possible version of themselves.

How can we have more peace, resiliency, and deeper connection in our relationships? How do we reduce anxiety, depression, harmful or addictive behaviors? We often wonder how or if it is even possible to change life-long patterns that have limited our potential and growth. Research indicates (as well as my personal and professional experience) two, very powerful approaches to change and healing that provide long-term results: the spiritual Recovery model and Emotionally-Focused therapy. Both approaches, coupled with an honest willingness to change, and an experienced therapist, hits the "bullseye" on the target for effective change!

I am accepting new clients and offer Online Counseling via Telehealth. I've provided over 10,000 hours of therapy and like Confucius said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life." I managed LDS Family Services for 13 years and loved directing the 12-step Addiction Recovery Program in Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania. I've been recruited by multiple residential treatment centers, a hospital, a skilled nursing facility, and by an IOP program assessing and treating substance abuse and domestic violence.

I believe that everything we do in life comes from experiences that’ve shaped us.Depending on the intensity of the event & how our body perceives it, it’ll be logged into our nervous system as a safe or an unsafe experience. Our bodies at the basic level want to feel safe and will create behaviors (healthy/unhealthy) to protect us.For most, when we feel bad later about our behaviors, this means our body perceived the event as a threat. We’ll explore with a curious mindset why this is happening and boundaries that can be put in place. We will evaluate /decipher what coping skills/behaviors are harmful and re-program them in your body.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
