How can we have more peace, resiliency, and deeper connection in our relationships? How do we reduce anxiety, depression, harmful or addictive behaviors? We often wonder how or if it is even possible to change life-long patterns that have limited our potential and growth. Research indicates (as well as my personal and professional experience) two, very powerful approaches to change and healing that provide long-term results: the spiritual Recovery model and Emotionally-Focused therapy. Both approaches, coupled with an honest willingness to change, and an experienced therapist, hits the "bullseye" on the target for effective change!
Having experienced trauma and codependency myself from the life-threatening addictions of my two sons, my goal is to bring hope to individuals and couples who struggle with substance dependence, and unhealthy attachment behaviors (codependency). I am also an owner of an Addiction Recovery treatment center and have facilitated Recovery groups for 18 years.
Relationships can also be complex in the best of circumstances; add negative life events or addictions, and well, sometimes an advocate is needed to help us identify our blind spots and provide education and resources. Marriage and Family therapists are highly trained to improve relationships and sometimes will include family members in the healing process.
