With over 24 years of clinical experience I provide compassionate, evidenced-based psychotherapy to individuals seeking meaningful and lasting change. My work integrates traditional therapeutic approaches with complementary modalities to support healing at both conscious and subconscious levels. Throughout my career I have utilized treatment protocols grounded in psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care and strengths-based approaches. I believe therapy should be collaborative, respectful and tailored to each client’s unique values, needs and life experiences.

I’m an adventurous hiker & lover of nature & I thrive on deep connection with others. I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship through empathy & gentle guidance. I became a mental health professional later in life because of my own personal struggles with complex grief caused by losing my father to a drug overdose & relational challenges of my own. I have personally experienced the healing power of therapy by feeling truly seen, heard & supported through hard seasons of life. I work with adults, teens, children & couples navigating grief, emotional or narcissistic abuse & empty nesting.

I’m an LGBTQIA2S+-affirming LPC candidate and NCC who knows what it’s like to struggle. I’ve faced many personal challenges—things like grief, low self-esteem, relationship changes, career obstacles, perfectionism, and anxiety—and that life experience, combined with a love for people, helps me understand and connect with folks in real, honest ways. I see adults and older teens, individuals and partners (coupled and CNM), and I support people navigating grief, depression, anxiety, sex and relational issues, trauma, suicidal ideation, perfectionism, and more.

Are you the “funny friend” who tells great stories about embarrassing moments but secretly dreads them at night? Humor protects you, but it also leaves you unseen and lonely. You are angry at your parents, frustrated by the world, and overwhelmed by the pressure of growing up. You want to feel connected without having to perform. You’re ready to stop avoiding your emotions, to feel less alone, and to be understood. Most of all, you’re ready to keep your humor without losing yourself. I want to help you get there.

Do you feel stuck in a rut? Like you are running into a similar problem over and over or fighting the same fights with your partner? If you feel this way, it is because you probably are. Our view of ourselves, the world, and our closest relationships are influenced by our family of origin and are the catalyst for these patterns in our lives, including issues with self-esteem, unhappiness, anxiety, and relationship dissatisfaction. As a systemic therapist, I look below the surface and want to help to get to the root of what is going on.

I enjoy working with anyone who is struggling to understand themselves and their behavior. While we can not force someone else to change, changing how we react to others can often bring about change in the relationship. I see counseling as a journey. You are the driver and I am the passenger pointing out road signs. My job is not to judge but to make sure you are aware of your options and their consequences. Whether it is childhood issues, parenting skills, stress, anxiety, depression or problematic relationships, talking to an unbiased trained professional can be of great benefit.

You don't have to live in emotional pain! Experience healing today! Generally, our culture does not understand emotions very well. We're shamed for showing emotion. Many of us walk around with our emotional tanks empty. This can cause symptoms similar to trauma. It shows up in our relationships as conflict and our alone-time as anxiety and depression. Beyond that, many have experienced significant emotional trauma. Resorting to mere coping skills in an attempt to navigate trauma can offer some short term relief. However, true healing from emotional pain can be yours.

As co-owner of Chrysalis Emotional Wellness, I believe therapy works best when people feel respected, understood, and comfortable being themselves. I meet clients where they are and work with teens, adults, and couples facing concerns such as trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, phobias, and self-esteem challenges. My approach is flexible—there’s no one-size-fits-all method. I integrate practical tools, including Somatic Polyvagal techniques, EFT, ACT, and HeartMath to support meaningful change. Email is usually the easiest way to reach me; if you call, please leave a voicemail, and I’ll return your message.

I enjoy working with clients of various backgrounds and life circumstances. I am willing to work alongside anyone ready to connect with themselves, challenge themselves, and grow into the person they desire to be. I believe it is essential to look into the past, find acceptance, and heal to move forward. I feel it is critical to identify triggers to negative emotions and work with me to identify coping skills, as well as challenge thinking patterns. I connect well with college students who are having relationship difficulties, people struggling to find happiness in their marriage, as well as expecting parents + post-partum.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
