Whatever your difficulties; relationship problems, depression, anxiety, low self-confidence or low self esteem, loss and bereavement, identity confusion, feelings of powerlessness, and anger.
There are times in everyone's life when things can feel overwhelming. At others, we can find ourselves repeating unhelpful or destructive patterns in our behaviour or relationships. At these difficult, and sometimes very distressing times, therapy can, quite literally, be a life-saver. For others, therapy can be an exciting and challenging space for personal development, growth and exploration. I have worked in the field of mental health for over 20 years. I work in both the NHS and as a consultant in Private Practice. I am also a senior tutor at the Minster Centre a pre-eminent training organisation for Psychotherapists.

My special interest is in the role of the father and the ways this relationship shapes us personally, particularly if you're a parent yourself.
I see therapy as a way to better understand the narratives of our lives and the stories we believe about ourselves. These may have been created as a result of early experiences, the society and culture we live in, or any other reason we're yet to discover. Therapy is a chance to explore your narrative in a confidential and creative space. Sometimes it's a case of reclaiming your story perhaps after a shock event, sometimes it's about redefining your story if life feels like it has drifted off course. Either way, therapy can help you confront whatever problems you have with confidence and the results can be life changing.

I specialise and have most interest and experience in working with trauma ( including relational trauma), abuse, PTSD, childhood emotional neglect, anxiety, sexual and porn addiction and attachment and relationship issues .
I believe that we tend to access therapy when it’s no longer possible for us to travel alone on our journey, hidden from ourselves and others, stuck in familiar and/or unfamiliar patterns that can no longer contain us, and when the way in which we are relating (or not relating) to ourselves, others and the world around us, is no longer making us feel fully alive. Something tells us it's time to look inwards. Looking inwards can feel daunting but it is necessary in order to instigate meaningful and lasting changes ( both external and internal ).

Are you experiencing relationship problems, inner conflicts or life stresses? It can help to find someone who is empathic and skilled who offers a safe space in which to share these feelings and dilemmas. Sometimes the issues may have been a pressure in life for months or years, and become part of your personality. It is a relief to discover that there is a solution to be found in therapy. I am especially interested in helping clients who have experienced troubled, sometimes abusive, childhoods and early loss of significant attachment figures. Often later life experience brings back earlier trauma and distress.

As a dedicated sex and relationship therapist, I specialise in blending informative, sex and relationship education with personalised therapy.
Has your desire disappeared? Maybe you're questioning your sexual orientation? Navigating through the complexities of sex and relationships can feel like riding a rollercoaster, and not the fun kind. You've explored every avenue, and advice from Google isn't cutting it. You might feel hesitant about trying sex therapy, or perhaps you've had a less-than-great experience in the past. Either way, you need someone who will listen without judgement.

My experience includes working with: anxiety: panic attacks, chronic worry/intrusive thoughts, low self-esteem, impact of experiencing childhood bullying/violence, relationship/sexuality issues, stress, CPTSD.
Finding the right therapist for you is as much about their style and personality as their qualifications. I value warmth, collaboration, and humour when appropriate and I endeavour to bring these qualities to my practice. My work is integrative which means I can use different theories to suit each individual client's needs. I draw on relational psychoanalysis, attachment theory, Internal Family systems, ACT and humanistic approaches. I am also influenced by my interest in film and literature. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Hello, how are you really feeling? Anxious? Stressed? Distraught? Concerned? Pondered? Or just not your usual self? Do you question your future relationship with yourself or others? Perhaps you find it hard to say no, and always prioritise others needs and wants, ignoring your own. Maybe assumptions and perceived ideas has become the default way of communicating, or have you checked out and decided saying nothing is best? So many questions, issues and challenges, that we all think and feel at times with a different level of intensity, that needs a safe space where you can reflect and explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviour.

I work with individuals who are struggling with all kinds of issues, such as depression, anxiety and stress, questions of identity, personality problems, relationship issues, bereavement, addictions, abuse, anger management and many other difficulties. Sometimes problems can be difficult to articulate, like feeling lost, confused, or like something just isn’t right. Often we can face problems that feel so ingrained that we might feel there can’t be a solution. We might feel ‘it’s just who I am’. I am also an experienced couples therapist. Most fights between couples are rooted in the pain of loosing connection with each other.

Relationship Issues Counsellors
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
