You may be navigating the impact of baby loss, a traumatic birth, a neonatal journey, pregnancy after loss, or another experience that has left you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or changed in ways that are difficult to explain. Many of the people I work with describe feeling as though their sense of safety, trust, confidence, or identity has been shaken. My aim is to provide a compassionate space to make sense of what has happened, understand your responses, and find a way forward that honours your experience.

Ever feel like your mind won’t stop racing, the tight chest, shallow breathing, that awful sense of doom? Or like you want to pull away from someone you care about but also wish you could get closer, even though their absence feels like rejection? It can feel exhausting, overwhelming and impossible, but with the right help and guidance you can live a life without these constraints. I specialise in supporting people navigating anxiety and difficulties in interpersonal relationships. With anxiety, we explore its purpose and then begin to change how you relate to it, so we get our power back.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you’ve spent a long time holding everything together on your own. You’ve done your best to manage, but it’s becoming harder to keep going. You’re here because you want things to feel different: calmer, clearer, and more in your control. You don’t need to have all the answers before you start; you just need a safe, structured space to make sense of what’s happening and take steady steps forward.

I use psychodynamic approaches to explore how the past affects current relationships, and cognitive strategies to develop new ways of thinking and responding to situations.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious or depressed, counselling can bring about positive change by working together to understand patterns that are keeping you stuck, and developing strategies to cope with current challenges. I work with issues including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationships, trauma, issues at college and work, stress and burnout, neurodiversity, grief and anger. I am passionate about inclusion and I am neurodivergence and LGBTQIA+ affirming in my practice. I offer weekly, fortnightly and term-time only appointments.

I believe we are all susceptible, at some point in our lives, to feeling overwhelmed by what life can bring. Sometimes we encounter experiences that are hard for us to come to terms with leaving us in need of support, this may be in the form of a bereavement, a relationship breakdown, a job loss; any event that we struggle to comprehend and understand. Other times a series of events may have taken place that leave us feeling like we are walking under a big black cloud and fail to see a way forward. At times like this counselling can help.

Sometimes, we come into therapy feeling like we 'should' be coping better, or unsure of how to take the next step. Maybe you're adjusting to a big life change or feeling disconnected from the people around you. I work with a diverse range of individuals, drawing on over 10 years of experience supporting adults and university students. Over the past five years, I’ve supported women through the emotional adjustments of parenthood, including navigating mental health challenges and coping with traumatic births. Therapy is a space to explore your feelings, make sense of your experience, and move forward at your own pace.

Navigating a world built for neurotypical minds can be relentless. If you're neurodivergent (or wondering whether you might be), you may have spent years adapting, masking, and pushing through, often without support that truly fits. I'm a neurodivergent therapist who specialises in working with ADHD, autism, and other forms of neurodivergence. I don't offer formulaic approaches. Instead, we work collaboratively to find what actually helps you, drawing on a range of therapeutic methods tailored to how you think, feel, and process the world. I also work with a wide range of other difficulties, always meeting you as you are.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
