We all need someone to talk to, and to be heard. I provide counselling to individuals in a safe, relaxed environment where we explore any issues you bring to the session together. My counselling experience is very diverse and I have supported a range of clients in various settings. I follow a person centred approach being very client focused, with the ability to adapt to other counselling models, which will be unique to each person.

Children & Adolescent Counsellor. My passion is supporting children (5+), teens and young adults who may be struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, family changes, or difficulties at school. Young people often feel overwhelmed or misunderstood, and my aim is to provide them with a safe, creative, and understanding space where they can explore their feelings and develop healthier ways to cope. I also recognize the importance of the family system, and when helpful, I work with parents and careers to strengthen relationships and improve communication.

Hello, I’m Claire. I often work with people who learned how to tune into the emotions and needs of the people around them before they learned how to attune to themselves. They want to break the patterns and cycles that keep causing them harm, and I want to help them do exactly that. We all have blind spots and it’s okay to need some help figuring them out. I don’t do 'quick fixes', but I will help you find ways to make life, right now, feel more manageable, so that we can gently begin to understand the root causes of what has been making life feel so hard.

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). Since qualifying, I have specialised in providing psychological therapy to adults with a range of emotional, behavioural or relational difficulties. I have recently completed extensive training in Experiential Dynamic Therapy. Through developing a safe place to explore and play within therapy, I have seen how making space for feelings can help people to lead enriching, fulfilled lives in which they can fully seek and follow their needs, desires and motivations.

However, I use different modalities and tools to support my clients and their individual needs, so I source from existential, solution focused, as well as psychodynamic perspectives.
I'm Guin, I work with people who feel stuck in old patterns: anxiety, self-doubt, people-pleasing, or carrying far too much for far too long. My approach is relational, attachment-focused and informed by IFS. Together we explore how past experiences shape your present relationships, emotions and inner conflicts. The aim is to deepen self-understanding, process what’s been painful, and help you move towards a more grounded, authentic way of being.

People seek counselling and psychotherapy for various reasons. Not everyone knows what is bothering them. Often it is the difficulties and challenges of daily life that become overwhelming and unmanageable, impacting relationships, work and decision making. It is sometimes beyond the control of the individual to address those issues without professional help.

My practice is, in the main, informed by three interconnected modalities: the Person-Centred approach, Psychodynamic theory and Attachment theory.
I work with adults and Young People aged between 18 to 25. My counselling practice welcomes anyone. You don't need to have specific life experiences or fit any criteria - I will welcome you for who you are. Whilst there can be specific life events that bring someone to counselling (for example a bereavement or job loss) it is more often a combination of life events that prompts people to seek assistance. Every person’s journey is unique and so my aim is to co-create with you an accepting and supportive therapeutic relationship as a base from which we can explore those aspects of your life which are most meaningful to you

Everyone faces challenges, dilemmas, fears, problems and issues in their lives. Sometimes we can manage to cope. Sometimes our usual coping methods don't seem to work. We find ourselves struggling and we need someone to talk to, someone who will listen and to somewhere we can talk about our feelings and thoughts and to explore opportunities for change - to get our lives back on track again.

I utilise relational psychotherapy to create a strong therapeutic bond and psychodynamic therapy to view your experiences through an attachment framework.
To support you in making practical changes I draw upon CBT and third-wave approaches like ACT and CFT. These allow us to focus on practical strategies as we move towards living a life aligned with your values. I approach labels with caution. While diagnoses can be helpful for some I focus on the personal meaning you find in your experiences.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
