Life can be challenging, hard and demanding at times and we could all use someone to talk to and explore our thoughts, feelings and ideas with. As an experienced, qualified and an accredited person-centred therapist, I can offer a safe, confidential and freeing space where I can support you and your needs in a non-judgemental, open and honest environment, which can enable genuine change to occur in your life. Having worked alongside clients who have presented with issues such as, abuse, depression, anxiety, loss, stress and more I can understand how scary seeking counselling can be - however my role is to support you through this.

We all have psychological ups and downs caused by the rollercoaster of life, specific events or our past. Work, relationships, families, finances, the behaviour of others, our past and health can lead us to develop unhealthy emotions. These include anxiety (shown as general stress, fatigue, panic attacks and OCD), depression (feeling lethargic or unfocussed), anger (outbursts, intolerance), guilt (we did something wrong) or shame (I’m not good enough). I work closely with clients to move forward from these to heal, achieve personal goals, enjoy life to its fullest and experience joy.

Psycho dynamic therapy can help with enduring conditions such as depression, anxiety and finding purpose in life.
I am a fully qualified Psycho dynamic Psychotherapist, practicing in King's Cross area of London. I have worked with older adults at the NHS for over a year and a half. I practice both, short term, 12-18 sessions, and long term open ended sessions. This can help not only with relief of symptoms but can promote deep and lasting change. The aim is to bring the unconscious mind into consciousness, helping to unravel and unlock true, deep-rooted feelings in order to re-frame and resolve them.

It is natural to have some reservations, hesitations or even anxiety, if you are thinking about accessing therapy and maybe you have been struggling for a while.
Do you feel you want to change something in your life? Or perhaps you just need to explore your thoughts and feelings in a confidential, non-judgemental space? Do you feel disconnected or distant in your relationships? Or perhaps you have been affected by an external factor that you’re having difficulty coming to terms with? Therapy will offer you the opportunity to re-establish some balance in your world by helping you make sense of things or understand them better.  Engaging in therapy, gives you the opportunity to find some inner peace with yourself and work towards being a better and happier version of yourself.

The modern pressures of life can take their toll on us – increasing responsibilities and being connected 24/7 can leave us feeling burnt out, anxious, and overwhelmed. Even when we do manage to disconnect, we find it difficult to disconnect from our racing thoughts. If you’re new to therapy it can be daunting, however taking this brave step can be rewarding. It can give you the space to explore what is really going on, process difficult emotions, develop healthy coping strategies and restore your mental well-being - so that you aren’t just surviving, but thriving in the world.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
