My therapeutic style is person-centred, and my primary modalities include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Existential therapy.
You may be experiencing concerns related to trauma, family history, relationships, identity development, personal growth, spirituality and sexuality/sexual identity. If so, the process of finding support can be challenging, and it can difficult to know how to find a clinician with a style that best supports you and your concerns. I believe that the first step in the process is to provide a space to support understanding your unique experiences and perspectives.

Are you tired of being stuck? Tired of beating yourself up? Board with the same old strategies that don't work? Are you ready for change? Many people experience times in their lives when they begin to feel overwhelmed and have difficulty coping. Feelings of shame, fear, loneliness, anger and hurt can have us feeling trapped and like we will never be okay. Counselling can often help people to transition to a place of balance, where they are much better able to cope, and not feel as overwhelmed. Not only will they be better able to cope, they can develop strategies that can make their lives more manageable and balanced in the future.

I also do web based counselling though Zoom for those outside of Kamloops or in other remote locations. Often we see a counsellor when life has become too hard or confusing, and I think that's because we can reflect and make changes when things are not going well. As a counsellor, I offer an environment that feels safe enough to tell your story - the highs and the lows, the joy and the grief and everything in between. It's a privilege to hear your story, to help you make sense of it and to think creatively with you about what you'll need for the journey ahead.

I am a Registered Clinical Counselor with a Master's in Psychology that practice since 1993 There are events in life that have more impact on our minds than others and circumstances in life that make it almost impossible to process those events. Different methods exist to help with the normal flow of that process in order to overcome emotional pain. Through different psychotherapeutic techniques, I guide my clients on the path of self-discovery and personal growth. You and I together will analyze the conflicts and obstacles in your life, we will find and work with your personal fears and beliefs and set yourself free from them.

I work with adults to explore how their past experiences, traumas, and family system have impacted their sense of self, attachment, and patterns. We work to understand how and why their brain (thoughts), body (feelings), and behaviour are conditioned/operating and move towards awareness and acceptance. By exploring past experiences, current triggers, and future goals, we can move towards intentionality and alignment rather than feeling stuck, not good enough, or not in control. My goal is to help individuals understand and deepen their relationship to themselves and others so that they can live happier more fulfilled lives.

I believe some of the most beautiful work takes place in a therapeutic setting. My goal is to provide you with a safe space, help you feel heard, cared for, understood, and be there for you through your journey in discovering new and different ways in leading a more authentic and meaningful life. I believe we all go through struggles and obstacles in life. Sometimes, what we are trying isn’t necessarily working anymore and we may need new and different perspectives and ways of tackling such issues and concerns. When given the right space, I believe you can heal from your trauma and succeed in leading a life that you want to live.

We are spiritual beings experiencing life in human form, but the challenges of our human condition can often overwhelm us. Spirituality involves reconnecting with our true nature as spiritual beings and pure awareness. Psychotherapy, on the other hand, helps us heal and release the burdens we carry throughout life, while also fully embracing our human nature. Whether you are dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, grief, career changes, life transitions, or struggles in relationships, I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions. Together, we will uncover your inner wisdom and resilience.

Specializing in grief therapy in Winnipeg and beyond. Are you struggling with the pain of grief following the loss of a loved one (recent or past), the ending of a relationship or a life changing transition? Grief often shows up in many of our life experiences, including the things we wish were better, different, or more. Grief isn't something we must get rid of, but rather something we learn to be with. Together we will find ways to soften the pain of grief so that no longer feels so heavy to carry. Here we make space for the fullness of the human experience.

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
