Life will bring challenges and difficult times that can cause feelings of confusion, fear, anxiety, depression…and numbness. We also experience transitions and losses, not only through the death of people we love, but loss of our health, relationships, jobs, dreams. Without relief, chronic stressors can bring up feelings of fear and resistance and a lack of belief that we can cope. Some events and relationships may leave deeper, traumatic wounds. Sometimes it just feels like it is all ‘too much’. Whatever challenge brings you here, together we can work with and process these feelings.

My practise is informed by attachment-based and
positive psychology
approaches.
Kids do not come with a handbook to guide their parents through the challenges of growing up (at least I have not received my copy!). Our world seems more complex than when we were growing up. There is so much for kids (and their parents!) to navigate as their lives progress. I emphasize the role of relationships when working with children. As part of a larger family unit, children need their parents’ involvement and support through the therapeutic process. My goal is to support children (and their parents) adapt to change, seek stability, and build on their strengths and abilities to address their needs.

If you are in need of support for anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles and/or grief, please feel free to reach out! I take a psycho-educational approach to the support I offer. What is psycho-education? - If your sense of humor is kicking in - I see you! haha. But really, I help you to learn about
positive psychology
and your nervous system.

Are you finding everything too stressful right now? Have the last few years been just too much? Whether it is work, relationship, family, or just the stress of trying to make it through the week, I can help. No matter how good our friends or family are, it can be so helpful to have someone with an outside perspective to talk with and help sort through things. Our past does impact our present and understanding the ways we respond to the world can make it all so much easier. If you are looking for a therapist who will be supportive and non-judgemental while guiding you towards more self understanding and confidence, I can help.

Life is a self-discovery process. The journey may not always be smooth; in fact, it’s common to experience roadblocks along the way, only to find that our usual methods for coping stop working. However, with the right support it is possible to feel grounded in yourself again. Therapy can offer you an opportunity to develop greater awareness, self-compassion, and ultimately resiliency in the face of life challenges. In our collaborative work together, you will be supported with developing a deeper understanding of yourself, and with making the changes that you desire to live a more satisfying life.

It is an honour and a privilege to work with people as they identify and explore unhelpful patterns of thoughts, actions and behaviours. We will work together on improving wellbeing and reducing troubling symptoms (anxiety, depression, relationship issues). I utilize a strengths-based, systemic approach and tailor my approach for each client. I often use neuropsychotherapy techniques. There are cognitive explanations for why we make the same mistakes over and over but the good news is that once we become aware of the way we make decisions, we can make healthy, positive changes. I have been in practice for eighteen years.

At certain times in our lives, we may feel like we are stuck. We struggle with maintaining our relationships with our significant other and families, have difficulty meeting work deadlines, or are unable to deal with the emotions of a traumatic event (ie. car accident or loss of a loved one). Counselling is a way to work through issues. Here are a few other reasons why individuals and couples may seek counselling: increased conflict and reduced connection due to anger, fear, depression, anxiety, sadness, self-esteem issues, grief, and trauma.

Daytime appointments available - When we aren't feeling like the best version of ourselves, it's tough to engage in our lives in the way we would like to; our daily stress adds up and pulls us away from the things that are important to us. Whether little things in your life are piling up and becoming overwhelming or you are in the midst of a major life transition, accessing support is an important first step to living a value-driven life. Sometimes we are feeling alright, but we aren't where we want to be. Having dedicated time and space to process our thoughts with an unbiased listener can build the insight we need to thrive.

I believe we all dream to live lives of more and lives of less. More: happiness, peace, joy, health, achieving meaningful goals, and joy in relationships. The opposite is also true, we seek lives with less. Less: stress, illness, negativity, pain, bad relationship habits, trauma, anger, and disconnection. Are you one of millions of 1st generation Canadians trapped between 2 worlds? Is it time to create your own life? Do you experience Anxiety, depression, maternal loss/fertility struggles, growing up "fine but feeling empty", or loveless parenting--all of which can hold you back or instill panic. Small steps can feel overwhelming.

As someone who struggles with anxiety, it can sometimes feel like a label or something we just have to learn to "deal with" as a part of life. You often find yourself wondering what you can do to help yourself “get rid of this feeling” or feel better in some way. Your life has felt impacted by your fears and worries, and your thoughts spiral daily. You know you have so much potential - but your anxiety & stress have had an impact on so many aspects of your life, work, and relationships. It can be scary to reach out to a therapist because you want to make sure that you find someone who really gets you and what you are going through.

Hello, as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients with an assortment of concerns throughout my practicum and into the start of my career. I take pride in being able to help clients assess where improvements are needed and strengths are present. I tailor our sessions based on your needs while pulling from various therapeutic modalities. I most commonly support clients through the use of CBT, DBT, solution focused strategies and ultimately, a person centered approach. As a young male I have had a lot of success helping males with male related issues.

Do you sometimes think to yourself "Gosh, my child's behaviour is out of control!". Do you think "I want to help my child so desperately but somehow it feels like I end up making things worse" ? Maybe you blame yourself and wonder "where did I go wrong?". Maybe other people in your child's life blame you. You know something needs to change but don't know where else to look. You've exhausted all the options you know of- you've spoken to other moms, teachers, maybe other therapists. You worry about your child's happiness and stability if something doesn't change. This is hard stuff! I want you to know, you're in the right place!

In a world that is becoming increasingly complicated every day, therapy is a safe space away from the pressures of daily life where you can explore your concerns without judgement. My aim as a therapist is to create an environment where I can support you in exploring what is bothering you and we can work as a team to find solutions that are tailored to your unique story and circumstances. I draw from a range of therapies but my main guiding principles come from a strengths-based perspective. I believe above all that YOU are the expert in your own life and that I am merely here to help you on your road to self-actualization.

As a parent, do you often ask yourself how you could do things differently, feeling guilty or ashamed about the way you manage family situations? Struggling with cycles of negative emotion can leave you feeling alone, anxious, and depressed. Perhaps you feel disconnected from yourself, your partner, and/or your children, and you wish your family dynamic could come together more easily. Practicing acceptance and establishing emotional safety may seem like impossible feats, but know that there is a way.

I have been a practicing clinical social worker for 50 years. Love my work which explains why I am still providing therapy into my semi-retirement years. I believe in the all important therapeutic relationship. Without that connection with that person I serve not much growth or change can happen. I congratulate my clients for making that difficult call to me but then challenge him/her/ them to make change, explore, reflect and discover what they want to do about the issues that brought them to to counselling. The therapeutic principles that I adhere to over the 50 years include: 1- Individualization: based on the right of

How does positive psychology therapy work?
Positive psychology therapy derives from the work of Martin Seligman of the University of Pennsylvania. He and others developed the field of positive psychology building on humanistic theory. Positive psychology therapy is similar to acceptance and commitment therapy, and it essentially quiets emotional distress through positivity, contentment, and well-being. This therapy does not reduce the individual to symptoms and conditions.
When do I know if I need treatment using positive psychology?
If an individual is overwhelmed by emotional distress and general negativity, they may feel trapped. A positive psychology therapist can help them view their emotions and behaviours differently, and approach life with a better understanding of their positive strengths. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.
What should I expect from positive psychology therapy?
The patient may be asked to explore their signature strengths. The therapist will also ask the individual to talk about their goals, which should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. Discussing negative experiences and symptoms is important, but so is the exploration of positive experiences. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more positive and fulfilling way. This therapy is proactive and may use forgiveness, gratitude, hope, and compassion to help reframe negativity.
Is positive psychology effective in therapy?
Positive psychology therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with eating disorders benefit from this type of intervention. This therapy encourages the person to reframe their distressed thoughts and move into healthier patterns of functioning. This therapy also aims to move an individual toward what works well in their life. Positive psychology therapy can elicit lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
