Most of us have felt stuck - as though we are simply getting by doing the things we've always done. Usually those behaviours - thoughts, feelings, and actions - developed because, at some point in our lives, they were useful! They helped us to survive situations that seemed unconquerable at the time. Now these same behaviours may lead to isolation, emptiness, worry, or avoidance, and we feel uncertain how to change them. Having an opportunity to observe those behaviours, with curiosity and compassion, can help us understand what we need to break the cycle.

Navigating challenges in our lives is hard to do at the best of times, but even harder if we’re doing it alone. Therapy is all about partnership: both you and me working together to meet your goals. We start with aligning your goals with your values as our values can help shape our direction for change and self-discovery. I work to create a safe and supportive space to process difficult feelings, develop coping skills and grow self-awareness. While I have experience working with a variety of concerns, I am particularly passionate about working with anxiety, depression, relational issues, life and career transitions, and self-esteem.

If you’re here, it may be because life feels heavy, confusing, or overwhelming. You might be exhausted, stuck, or desperate for clarity and relief, and part of you may wonder if change is really possible. That’s normal and valid. Even when we acknowledge or validate our feelings with words, it can still feel hard to believe them. In our work together, we’ll create a space that is both compassionate and real, encouraging the parts of you ready for growth. We’ll explore your struggles, confront patterns that hold you back, and work toward a felt sense of safety, self-worth, and clarity.

This hectic and at times uncertain life can feel overwhelming. When we lack grounding and direction it can feel like we will lose control of our emotions and ourselves. I practice counseling from a non-judgmental and acceptance based perspective where we can use your strengths, past lived experiences and new skills developed during the therapeutic relationship to move through the hard times and achieve your goals. My approach is to support you to identify the habits and patterns in relationships with yourself and others that may not be serving you and with this new awareness move towards your valued goals. EFT and EMDR Certified.

As a parent, do you often ask yourself how you could do things differently, feeling guilty or ashamed about the way you manage family situations? Struggling with cycles of negative emotion can leave you feeling alone, anxious, and depressed. Perhaps you feel disconnected from yourself, your partner, and/or your children, and you wish your family dynamic could come together more easily. Practicing acceptance and establishing emotional safety may seem like impossible feats, but know that there is a way.

Taking the first step toward therapy is an important and courageous decision. After 30 years in the field, I am still inspired by the bravery of my clients.
I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership—built on attunement, respect, and collaboration. I consider myself a guide rather than an authority. Therapy is a dynamic process where both you and I are involved in its creation. I invite change, rather than impose or force it. This allows you the space to reclaim your voice in the healing process.

Through deep listening, dream work, image-in-the-body work and analysis, I collaborate with my clients to grow more meaningfully connected to themselves and others. What is a meaningful life? Am I happy? These questions are at the centre of many of my clients’ lives. The question of one’s personal meaning has profound impacts on one’s life. It can be the source of depression, addiction, relationship problems, poor self-value, and feeling disconnected from the world around you, from spiritual life and from soul life. I have been practicing for 20 years as a Jungian psychoanalyst and psychotherapist.

The past throws stones to the present, and that is what brings many people to therapy. I believe we all have the capacity to heal, but often our own story can get in the way of that healing. If this is your first time seeking out a therapist or if you've done this before, it is my hope to work alongside you, at your pace, and collaborate to make a plan that addresses your needs. With this, it is important for you to choose a therapist who is a good fit and connects to your needs. I encourage you to explore my website and reach out to me to determine if I am that fit for you.

You may be here because you know that what’s weighing on you isn’t only about mood or anxiety, but living in a world that feels fractured and increasingly hostile. This isn’t an abstract unease. The weight of injustice and cruelty presses into daily life, shaping how we move, choose, and try to care for ourselves and each other. When the social, political, and values-based frameworks you once relied on no longer feel steady, it can be hard to separate the world’s weight from what presses on you here and now, or what might help in the moment. Not because nothing is happening, but because the strain comes from many directions.

On the outside, you look like you have it together. You’re responsible, capable, and people trust you at work. But inside, your mind rarely slows down. You might replay conversations after meetings, overthink emails before sending them, or worry about making mistakes that others will notice.
Many high-achieving professionals struggle with anxiety in the workplace, even when they’re good at their jobs. You might feel pressure to perform, fear being judged by coworkers, or hesitate to speak up in meetings. Over time, the constant overthinking and imposter syndrome becomes exhausting.

It is so difficult living in a world that wasn’t made for you - that wasn’t made for so many of us. Your life has been very different than those around you, and you’re tired of trying to explain because you’re met with confusion, misunderstanding, or even hostility. Maybe you’re deep in depression, frozen with anxiety, haunted by intrusive memories of past abuse, or trapped in a currently abusive environment. Maybe you’re living as someone you know in your heart you aren’t, or maybe you’ve found yourself, but others have been slow to accept it. Maybe you’re trapped by your own or others’ expectations, feeling like you can’t breathe.

Imagine being in a place where you feel safe, supported and accepted, in a way that moves you to tell your story to someone who listens to you fully and really hears what you are saying. Most of us rarely experience this. However, this is the experience Gladys strives to create for each of her clients: a space of understanding, curiosity and hope, one that naturally leads to the uncovering of answers to life's difficulties, to the resolving of the anxieties that surround you.

Life isn’t always easy. It can be hard, painful and even traumatic at times. Trauma and difficult life experiences can create challenges in many areas of life - it’s not uncommon to struggle with managing thoughts and emotions, relationships, and responsibilities. Whether you struggle with emotional issues (anxiety, depression, PTSD, anger, low self-esteem), addiction, grief and loss, or relationship/family issues, I would welcome the opportunity to support your desire for authentic personal growth and healing.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.
Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
