Life has difficulties and challenges. Pain and suffering are an inevitable part of human existence. We can not run from it. We cannot hide from it. But we can learn to live with it, to rise above it, to transform it, and to find meaning in it. Wellness and human flourishing can exist in the presence of pain and suffering. Working from a meaning perspective, I believe that when people see their own unique value they are better equipped to overcome life’s challenges and start living life more fully.

As a student intern, I get what it’s like to have really high expectations for yourself and feeling unsure of how to manage all of the self-doubts that exist within. I also understand what it feels like to be in a toxic relationship and how it feels impossible to see how it can get better. But it can. Together, we will explore your familial relationships, experiences and upbringing to uncover where it is that you developed these ways of being so that we can get you feeling more comfortable and confident in how you relate to yourself and your loved ones.

This fall, I am increasing my private practice hours to offer therapy to people who need more than what they can access through short term services. I have worked in mental health and employee assistance programs (EAP), and enjoy doing longer term therapy. Primarily, I work with adults who are struggling with mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and trauma, couples with relationship concerns, and people who have life changes they are working through. In my practice, I take an anti-oppression, culturally informed stance to peoples' issues and experiences. I am committed to ongoing professional development.

Life isn't always easy. It's not unusual to feel hurt or confused. People we count on are not always there for us in times of need because some people reach out when upset and some retreat. This can leave us feeling abandoned or overwhelmed. Therapy uses curiosity about our inner world to become more resilient, self aware, and engaged. Not all problems get solved by random talking. My tools help you get unstuck and deepen your sense of intimacy with yourself and others. Even your first time in therapy can be comfortable and productive. Check out the articles I've published in Psychology Today and call for a no obligation consult.

“I can’t keep living this way, but I don’t know how to change.” Does this statement sound familiar to you? Once upon a time, I felt this way too. Therapy was my safe space to land, and now I hope to offer a safe space in return for the teens and adults I work with. Perhaps you are experiencing a particularly difficult season of change in your life, or maybe you are hoping to better understand yourself and work towards a wellness goal. Together, we can work to discover your strengths, unpack your past experiences and, as a team, make a plan for the life you hope to build.

When life's challenges become overwhelming it can drain us emotionally, cause meaningful relationships to deteriorate, and take much of the enjoyment out of our lives. Connecting for a conversation with a compassionate, non-judgmental professional can be a great way to get back on track. I enjoy working collaboratively and creatively with clients of all ages and backgrounds. I utilize trauma-based, culturally-sensitive approaches, and I aim to provide useful insights to help you maximize your strengths and abilities, heal from your traumas, and live a happier, more fulfilled life.

Are you feeling stuck while also doing way too much? Maybe things feel a little (or a whole lot) harder and you're not sure what to do about it. I believe that everyone has the strengths and resources to find healing in their own life. We can work together to help you connect with those strengths and move forward. As a Certified Music Therapist, I am also trained and have the option to incorporate music in all forms into psychotherapy sessions. No musical experience required to benefit!

How can I find a therapist in N1L?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
