As we move through life, we inevitably run into issues that are difficult to navigate, such as trouble with a boss, spouse / partner, or a struggle with anxiety, depression, or stress. We try our best to solve these issues ourselves. Sometimes, no matter what we try, we can feel as if we are 'banging our head against a wall'. These times can be frustrating, tiring, and scary. At these moments, a helping hand and another perspective may be welcome. I have provided this support to individuals, couples and families since 2000. I would be honoured to partner with you.

Perhaps you are experiencing some or all of these challenges and are looking to feel better. Therapy can bring a different perspective to the difficulties you are experiencing, provide you with the direction and confidence to achieve your goals or successfully transition into new parts of your life, live in accordance to your values, and feel better.

Clients come to me saying "I am stuck", "I am unable to do anything" or "Life is so hard, I can't cope" and as I am a goal-oriented person I will help you to create clear goals. Then whatever your goal is, I can help you determine what life script are you living and with that knowledge, you will be able to decide whether to continue your pursuit or change your goals and ways to work with your life script. I also use solution-focused therapy to co-operate with you to create a suitable plan.

Are you living life on auto-pilot? Finding yourself stuck in the same patterns that do not serve you well and make it difficult to experience joy? Often, this can be a result of developmental trauma, attachment wounds, anxious thoughts, and/or limiting beliefs that keep our mind and body in a dysregulated state. These experiences can hinder our ability to regulate emotions, meet our own needs, communicate assertively, set boundaries, develop secure relationships, and live according to our values. Fortunately, we have the ability to change with self-awareness, intentional action and openness.

Thinking outside the box approach to traditional therapy, because no one individual fits neatly inside a box. Working together, using CBT and neurologic techniques to support you in your area or areas of need, music psychotherapy draws from traditional talk therapy while offering ways to move forward in who you are, both verbally and non-verbally. Using music offers a non-evasive and trusting medium within a clinical session and translates into a coping skill within everyday life. Please contact me for either Telehealth or in-person sessions.

Have you arrived at a point where problem solving on your own has reached its limit ? This happens to all of us and I believe it to be part of the human condition. However, not every problem finds its solution with the usual support of family, friends and wellness practices. An experienced and trained professional can help be a catalyst to progress beyond the limitations of depression, anxiety, past trauma, mental health issues, personal and family problems.

If you are a people pleaser, conflict avoidant, and self-critical, I want to work with you. I want to help you find ways to care for yourself and nourish yourself, learning about who you are and how you can get your own emotional needs met. Often, you put yourself last but find you are 'running on empty.' Let me support you in building deeper relationships with yourself and those around so you can flourish. I also work with teenagers who are struggling to cope with their emotions. I use evidence based practices like DBT to help my clients gain skills and emotional support.

I am a Social Worker with 20 years of experience, registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I am covered under many extended benefit plans, and works with several Employee Assistance Programs. Navigating relationships, stressful work situations, and sometimes just day to day life can be challenging, and helping people get back to being "themselves", or in some cases, aspects of themselves that they have aspired to be, is what I enjoy doing most. If you are struggling with something, and can't quite get back on your feet, I would be privileged to work with you to meet your goals.

I have worked with a variety of clients over the years. I have had much success in treating anxiety, depression, stress, school performance, life satisfaction, stress related to gender and sexuality, and parenting. While it is always ideal for a client to walk in the door ready to make changes I also enjoy supporting individuals in getting to that point. Someone who is willing to collaborate and create a space, therapeutic relationship and set of goals together with me will usually see success on some level. I practice from a strength based model.

Are you looking for a different counselling experience? Some forms of therapy are highly structured and while this can be necessary and helpful it may not be the best approach for you. I utilize a holistic, integrative and relational counselling style that is free flowing and personalized to you, not a program! As we talk, I help you share your life issues and struggles, as well as your strengths and unique sense of self. In every session we'll explore your life experiences, work towards co-created goals, clarify your meaning-making, uncover your patterns of behavior and create space for authentic living and healing.

Hope changes everything, but sometimes life circumstances can make it difficult to find hope in the midst of what feels like overwhelming darkness. I offer a non-judgmental space to explore past and current issues that may be contributing to the feeling of hopelessness. I work with clients to help uncover the underlying issues that are driving problematic behaviours. Along with talk therapy I use mindful movement and creative interventions to allow clients a full range of expression, and a more holistic approach to healing and recovery. My approach is gentle, and client centred.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
