Children and families are often referred to me by other counsellors or health professionals because "the kid refuses to talk or cooperate" or "we tried everything and nothing works". Families often seek my specialties to explore their children's behaviours and challenges from the developmental lens. Neurodivergent children look forward to seeing me because they feel I am safe, and fun, and can easily connect with them in a special and meaningful way. I cannot work with autistic children receiving ABA treatment as it is contraindicative with my strong commitment to neurodiversity affirmative and disability ethical principles.

The Spaces Between Counselling .....The Power of Perception The greatest area of growth my clients experience from our work together is a new way of seeing and experiencing their lives. I'll help you move from a place of hopelessness, loneliness, frustration, and fear to clarity and peace. We'll use your struggle as your power spot to create change. Although this can be difficult, discomfort acts as a motivator for change. That is its job. You are at a place where all the possibilities and richness of life are yours to be found. I can help you take your next steps.

As a Registered Art Therapist and Counsellor I work with youth/adults who might be seeking a less traditional approach to healing. Perhaps we don't want to talk about it? It might feel more possible to come up alongside with marks or movement to explore, release and reframe in new ways. To be gentle and curious in our transformation.

Are you feeling exhausted, and confused as to how you got to this point? Do you feel as though something is fundamentally "wrong" with you? This fear can feel like an invisible burden and make it feel like it’s impossible to live and embody your true authentic self. The discomfort over your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors may have led you down the seemingly endless path of trying to figure out what's "wrong" with you, and how to "fix" it. My job as your counsellor is to remind you that you are already whole just the way you are so you can heal and process the emotions and experiences that are keeping you stuck.

Hello and welcome. I am a Master's level counsellor (RCC, MA - University of Victoria) who specializes in three main (often overlapping) areas: addictions, neurodivergence and complex trauma. I believe we are all on our own Hero's Journey, and as a therapist, my goal is to help you understand who you are and to help you make sense of what happened to you, so that you can move forward in a more conscious and intentional way. Beyond self-awareness, I believe the purpose of therapy is to transform the negative emotional patterns and beliefs that have been influencing your thoughts, behaviors and relationships.

Our past experiences impact us in ways we may not even realize. Our nervous system jumps in to protect us in ways that it has helped us survive in the past. This often prevents us from operating how we wish to. Working to reconnect the body with the mind to our present, adult self can help resolve this disconnection. I believe that we all deserve to experience connection, empathy, attunement and safety and that this is often the missing piece.

I have dedicated the past i5 years of my life to working with First Responders. Before opening up my own practice I served as the Director of Trauma and Spiritual Care at a Treatment Centre located on Vancouver Island. I have met many people who have been my teachers. They have been struggling with PTSD, emotional dysregulation, depression, anxiety, loss of instinct of purpose. Some have been struggling with loss and grief not knowing how to grieve in a healthy manner. Others have been struggling with intense fear and self doubt knowing that change needs to happen in their lives and not knowing how to move forward.

Challenges and unexpected events can overwhelm our sense and emotions. I strive to work with children, youth and families in an empathetic and client centered approach to help individuals and groups find hope and joy for the future. Children and youth who have experienced trauma may find it difficult to participate in traditional talk therapies. Rainbow of Hope uses a play therapeutic approach so clients can tell their stories and process their complex emotions. By learning how to tell their story they learn coping strategies that enables each client to see hope within their future.

I have worked for 20 years in various non-profit settings with vulnerable children, youth, and adults of various backgrounds. In both my personal and professional life, I continue to be amazed by how we adapt and persevere through life's challenges and difficulties. I believe we are not meant to go through this journey alone, and in our difficult times it is important to find extra support. It is my hope, to encourage you in this journey and provide you with some extra tools for the road ahead.

Often we see a counsellor when life has become too hard or confusing, and I think that's because we can reflect and make changes when things are not going well. As a counsellor, I offer an environment that feels safe enough to tell your story - the highs and the lows, the joy and the grief and everything in between. It's a privilege to hear your story, to help you make sense of it and to think creatively with you about what you'll need for the journey ahead.
