As a therapist I strive to provide a safe and nurturing space where you feel free to explore what it means to be you and navigate life’s struggles without judgement. Therapy brings us to some of our most vulnerable moments, and I make it my mission that you feel heard, validated, and free to discover, maybe for the first time or perhaps again, who you are and/or who you’d like to become. I help clients navigate ways to improve their lives while also treating trauma-related issues, grief, relational and interpersonal challenges, family of origin issues, depression, and anxiety.

With individuals I seek to understand barriers to healthy intentions, the failures one feels, and I become an active ally to change one's unhappy direction..

You are feeling disorganized, distracted, or confused about life direction and struggling to anchor to a sense of self or personal values. Maybe you are struggling to acknowledge, feel, and express your emotions, and experience yourself shutting down. Or perhaps you are feeling stuck in negative self-talk, often struggling with perfectionistic tendencies and cycles of shame.

We'll focus on you and your goals to be more effective and confident in relationships, work, and as a parent and partner.
You're holding it together, so far. You hope others don’t realize how nervous or out of place you feel. Constantly tired and just getting through the day is hard. Instead of enjoying the life that comes from your hard work, you isolated yourself from family or look for comfort in the bottom of a bottle. You're restless, irritable, and tired of feeling like a failure and wondering what the hell is going on inside of you. You want real, meaningful change in your life and for your family. You just want to feel happy, but anxiety and depression keep you tied up in knots. It's time to be finished with that chapter and start a new one.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
