"It feels like I keep recycling old patterns, year after year." "My mind feels like it is constantly racing and I can’t seem to relax." "Issues from my past are interfering with my present life." You don't have to continue to live this way. I believe that everyone has the capacity to heal. To choose yourself, by seeking out support, is the first step in living a fulfilling life. I work with individuals and couples to overcome anxiety and depression, trauma and attachment wounds, and negative beliefs about the self, among a variety of other concerns.

In order to heal, I believe we need a nonjudgmental space to look at the hard stuff that's not working, recognize how it has worked in the past, and identify changes. My role is to encourage and empower you to make these meaningful changes in your life so you can move from surviving to thriving. If you’re a dog person, Luna, my cattle dog mix can join your sessions as she is undergoing animal assisted therapy training. Luna welcomes everyone with enthusiastic tail wags!

Now Re-open for clients. Where did my teen go? Your teen is: anxious, unhappy, stressed out &/or traumatized, overwhelmed with school and high expectations, and struggling w/ low self-esteem or trying to "belong." Sometimes you have to walk on eggshells for fear of your teen's anger. The two of you may be struggling more than ever. You want to help but there's distance between you and you feel shut out. Your teen spends a lot of time in the bedroom, out of the house or on the phone. This seems to make things worse. You’re incredibly worried and you're wondering what you could do differently or how to help. You're not alone.

Hello! My name is Suzanne and I have been working with clients for over 30 years, facilitating self exploration skills, passion in life, and building self esteem! We will address thoughts and feelings; some of which may be faulty and were formed from early childhood. We will learn how our reactions can be based on "learned intuitive behaviors," which then cause "fight, flight, and freeze responses." We will develop positive skills to conquer these reactions, for a healthy sense of self confidence, happiness, and personal strength. It's time to love yourself and live to your fullest potential, happy and passionate about life!

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
