Do you struggle with anxiety, depression or anger that seems to come out of nowhere? Do you sometimes feel that you just aren’t enough? Has this started to affect your ability to function or your relationships? Do you feel exhausted, overwhelmed or frustrated just trying to get through the day? Do you wonder if life could be better? Now more than ever, teenagers, men and women are feeling stuck trying to make sense of what happened or what is happening now. Continuing to ignore that feeling that something is not right can lead to worsening symptoms and difficulties. We believe you can experience the freedom of healing.

I enjoy working with teens and adults from all backgrounds! I usually connect well with people who had developmental or complex trauma in childhood, as well as young adults struggling with the transition to "adulting." I have experience helping with low self-esteem, general anxiety, social anxiety, chronic illness, codependency, trauma, and depression. I believe we all go through challenges in life and need to work on our mental health to reach our full potential. You can do it, even when it's scary! You are the expert on your own life and have more strengths than you realize! I would be honored to meet with you.

“We all have a past. We have all made choices that maybe weren’t the best ones. None of us are completely innocent, but we all get a fresh start everyday to a be a better person than we were yesterday.” Life’s challenges are an opportunity for growth! I believe therapy has the capacity to provide insight into ourselves, help us understand who we are and why, and increase awareness and authenticity.

My primary focus is emotional health and well-being by utilizing the Whole Person Concept. This enables clients to make great stride in personal transformation and gains in self-esteem, improvement in the quality of their life at work, in intimate relationships and with family, friends and overcome social anxiety. By utilizing the bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach and traditional cognitive behavioral therapy in helping to reframe the presenting problem, we discover new possibilities to cope with life stressors. This process may include Jungian psychology, dream analysis, creative visualization, mindfulness meditation and Art.

I use strengths based, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and art therapy techniques to build coping skills, self esteem, and awareness of needs and how to communicate them.
The mind can be a beautiful yet intricately tangled realm. It is my passion to help clients unravel their core thoughts and emotions impacting their day to day lives. Whether it is delving into the stressors of work and school, strengthening relationships with loved ones and peers, or simply finding one's strengths and goals for their own happiness. I also co-facilitate two therapy groups. Saturdays at 10am we host a teenage girls group and the first Tuesdays of the month at 6pm a young women's empowerment group.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
