Feeling as though you have just been going through the motions - tired of expending energy on stress, anxiety, or negative self-thoughts? Feeling disconnected from yourself and struggling to stay present? Consumed by painful emotions, racing thoughts, and unhelpful thinking? Together we will work to explore past issues within a safe, supportive space to create the motivation for change and healing through those unresolved past experiences that continue to impact your life today.

Life can move fast, and with it often comes unexpected challenges, transitions, and emotional turbulence. We all encounter seasons of life when coping feels difficult and overwhelming. Whether you're seeking clarity, healing, or simply a space to feel heard—you're in the right place. Taking the first step into therapy can be daunting. My goal is to provide a compassionate and non-judgmental, yet challenging environment where you can explore your experiences. I offer psychodynamic therapy that helps uncover how early life experiences and important relationships have shaped the way you see yourself and the world around you.

I'm a clinical psychologist with 30 years of experience working with all types of situations. Life is hard, and anxiety, depression, stress and trauma end up touching just about everybody at some point. My focus is on helping my clients maximize their ability to adapt to what life is throwing at them. Think of a surfer on the ocean. You have no control over the waves. But with balance and constant adaptation, you can ride those waves without getting hurt.

You’ve done the work. Therapy isn’t new to you—you’ve been there, talked through it, gained awareness. You get why you are the way you are, but despite all of that, you still feel stuck. Like no matter how much you understand your past, something deeper is keeping you in survival mode. Maybe you had to grow up fast. Maybe life didn’t give you much room to just be a kid. You’re great at figuring things out, staying strong, analyzing your feelings—but sometimes, it feels like you’re thinking your way around healing instead of actually feeling it. That’s where I come in.

Starting therapy is a big step and I like to demystify the process. Drawing on tools from cognitive-behavior therapy and positive psychology, I help people approach their current difficulties in a structured and collaborative manner. We'll talk about how you feel, but also discuss concrete strategies to help. I work with individuals with depression, anxiety, stress or relationship issues. Coping with acute and chronic illness is an area of particular interest. I also work with people who are feeling stuck or overwhelmed in either their personal or professional lives with the goal of not just getting by, but flourishing.

I have over 14 years of experience working with people who have been diagnosed with cancer.
I help people who feel emotionally and spiritually depleted find their way back to a deeper sense of self. Many of my clients have spent years in survival mode — caregiving, coping with illness, pushing through burnout, or navigating transitions that left them feeling unmoored. Others are dealing with grief, a loss of direction, or a sense that something essential is missing. Whether you're healing from something specific or simply sensing a call to realign, our work together can support your journey toward wholeness, clarity, and meaning.

Cancer Therapists
How does cancer affect mental health?
A cancer diagnosis is a major life event that can significantly influence the mental health of any individual. Being diagnosed with cancer often introduces a sense of uncertainty about the future, which can cause clients to experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, and significant distress. Many cancer patients may also worry about the toll that their diagnosis may have on their family, their physical health, their job, and their financial situation. The compounding of such stressors can also decrease mental health in clients and may lead to additional symptoms that can influence mental health, such as sleeping difficulties or social withdrawal.

What is the best psychological therapy for cancer patients?
The best type of psychological therapy for cancer patients is highly dependent on the needs of the individual. The therapy type that a client benefits from may also depend on what stage of the cancer journey they are in. Recently diagnosed cancer patients, for instance, may benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which can help clients develop skills to manage the emotional distress that comes with a cancer diagnosis. Alternatively, cancer patients further along in their journey may benefit from therapies like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or other forms of mindfulness therapy to help manage symptoms or physical pain associated with treatment. Clients may also consider group therapy, which offers cancer patients an opportunity to receive support from other individuals dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

Are there any risks or drawbacks in going to therapy while dealing with cancer?
Although attending therapy while dealing with a cancer diagnosis can be helpful, one major concern for cancer patients can be the financial cost of seeking therapy. Many therapists are out-of-network, meaning they do not accept insurance, and thus clients are expected to pay the entirety of the session fee. Since many cancer patients may be out of work as a result of their diagnosis or cancer treatment regimen, the costs of therapy sessions can be substantial. Luckily, many cancer centers and local clinics may offer free or substantially reduced-cost counseling services to cancer patients and their families. In addition, cancer patients may be eligible for grants or other forms of funding from local agencies and nonprofits to seek therapy for their cancer diagnosis. Such opportunities can be very helpful for cancer patients, as they allow clients to obtain the benefits of therapy without the financial strain.

How long does cancer therapy typically last?
The length of cancer therapy depends on the needs of each client. In some cases, cancer patients may only require therapeutic support during the period following their initial diagnosis—to help manage the uncertainty and shock of a cancer diagnosis. In other cases, clients may choose to receive therapy throughout their treatment, and even following, their cancer journey. Pursuing therapy for a longer period of time can help clients develop a deeper relationship with their therapist and provide opportunity to process the challenges presented by cancer treatment, such as physical pain, and challenges associated with cancer survivorship, such as ongoing identity concerns, physical limitations, or relationship challenges.
