Wise ones have advised, "Know thyself." My work as a therapist is to assist you to do just that...to help you learn about yourself, but to learn with much more compassion and empathy than you've likely allowed yourself before. Whether you are seeking couple's, individual, or family therapy, I will work with you to understand the issues you name more fully. We will then identify resources, strategies, and tools you can use to address and manage those issues more effectively. I utilize psychodynamic, CBT, EMDR, mindfulness-based, and relational approaches, and attempt to offer a holistic perspective.

I specialize in women, mothers, people pleasers, perfectionists and neurodivergent humans. If this is you : you might feel stressed out, burnt out or anxious. You may feel depressed, lonely or isolated. You may be too hard on yourself for not being perfect. You may struggle with low self-esteem or not feeling good enough. You give everything to your family, your job, your partner and have nothing left for you. You are so busy doing all of the things you don't have time to truly take care of yourself. Your tank is empty. You may even wonder how you can keep doing this day after day. This is not how you want your life to be.

Let’s be honest – life is moving faster and getting more stressful by the minute. The thought of finding the time or motivation to do anything about it, though, is a funny joke. And so the cycle continues: you keep going to the same job, staying in the same relationship, and putting up with others' expectations. You're stressed, frustrated, and depressed. You find that your thoughts are distracting you, your body is tense, and you snap at everyone and everything. You can't even catch a decent night's sleep! You sometimes even argue with yourself because you "should" be happy with everything you have. So what gives?

Another night, the same old fight. You know you're both smart people – why can’t we seem to figure out how to have a constructive conversation with each other on the things that matter? On the outside, it seems like you have the perfect life and relationship. People would be surprised if they knew the truth. When one or both of your buttons are pushed, things go off the rails. You know you love each other deeply and both want a solid and healthy relationship – but when these conflicts happen, you feel so disconnected and hopeless that you question whether you’ll ever be able to truly resolve things and find a deep connection again.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
