Trauma, chronic illness(es), and eating disorders are intense, unique experiences that can change the way we think, respond, and prepare for day-to-day activities. It can also change the way our body functions on a basic level. My goal is to provide a comfortable environment where everyone can explore traumas, create coping skills, and gain self-confidence. It is within a safe, comforting environment that people have the potential to create meaningful change in their lives.
I use a relational, strengths-based approach in sessions. I also incorporate motivational interviewing and mindfulness techniques regularly into session. Myself, and the other clinicians at Embrace Strength Counseling, work from a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework.
We all interact with the world in a unique way and life can become hard when we feel judged because our path may be "different". Trauma or ongoing illnesses create a set of struggles that many may not understand, leading to unwanted advice and shame. My primary goal is to provide you with a space in which you feel validated, heard, and supported.
