I’m constantly inspired by each of the clients I am privileged to serve, and I’m honored to play even the smallest part in helping them build a brighter future. My office is a safe, nonjudgmental space where Iowa children, adults, couples, and families can find the hope and healing they need to thrive. Together, my clients and I build the customized treatment plan that is the best fit for them.

I believe life is a series of winding paths and enjoy meeting with individuals, families, and couples to navigate these paths so they can work towards a more fulfilling life. My overall style of therapy is eclectic, meaning I enjoy mixing a variety of techniques. Using this therapy strategy, I find I am best able to meet the needs of each individual client. Even so, cognitive-behavioral therapy and client-centered therapy are among my favorite styles. I believe the therapeutic alliance between therapist and client is of extreme importance, so I focus strongly on building this therapeutic connection.

No one knows you, better than you and in a world pulling you different directions, that can be overwhelming. Allow me to come along side you on your journey and help you work through stressors and meet your personal goals. I believe that my job as your therapist is to empower you to learn to empower yourself while also helping you learn to cope with current and future issues.

As a therapist, my mission is to walk alongside you on your journey, meeting you where you're at, and offering you a safe therapeutic environment where you can find hope and healing. The first step of starting therapy can be scary and intimidating, but I am here to help in any way I can, and ensure you are comfortable and receiving the best care that works for you. I have experience serving a wide variety of individuals seeking help with their mental health, and I have provided play therapy for a range of ages.

I have worked in the social work field for over 25 years. My experience includes providing individual family therapy in a community-based setting, working 15 years with the State of Iowa Department of Human Services, and as a certified drug and alcohol counselor. I am also certified as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I believe in working with the mind, body, and spirit. I have experience working with individuals that struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, stress, addictions, life changes and all age groups.

In life, we experience the ups and downs, challenges and experiences. I believe we all have the strength and capabilities to get through the challenges and enjoy the experiences. In the difficult times, we might need extra help and support. I want to be there to support you and provide reminders of the abilities you have within yourself to use tools learned in therapy throughout life. I will work collaboratively with you to empower yourself through life's obstacles, improve quality of life, and return to the joy and excitement of life.

The primary mission of Elevate is to provide high-quality, evidence-based care to our clients. Our settings are designed to ensure a welcoming atmosphere that is professional and confidential. I offer experience and passion for helping people navigate their own path to mental health. I am a trauma informed therapist who specializes in facilitating healing and growth after exposure to toxic stress and traumatic experiences. I enjoy working with clients who have experienced adversity in childhood, have been involved in foster care or child protection, or have experienced other interpersonal stresses across the life span. I also enjoy working with individuals with diverse identities and bodies.

I am ready to help individual adults, couples, and children (ages five & up) improve their mental health! My skills lie in helping clients improve communication skills and increase healthy coping to manage anxiety, depression, historical trauma, substance abuse, and personality issues. I view the therapeutic relationship as essential to facilitate this change; whether this is your first time seeking counseling services or you've been through a number of providers trying to find your 'fit,' I will work hard to help you feel comfortable and safe as you progress in therapy using transparency, humor, and reflective feedback.

I believe that every person has value and is meant to be on this earth. Most people saw the best in themselves and others when, at some point they were overcome with hurt, disappointment, or other life challenges. We were never meant to carry those burdens alone. I am here to offer a safe, non-judgemental space for you. I offer in office sessions, walk-and-talk, and have partnered with Wild Hearts n Horses to offer equine-assisted therapy.

Therapy can look like so many different things and assist in the healing process in many different ways. I am ready to assist in the journey of defining what therapy looks like for you. I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Iowa State University and a Masters degree in Social Work from Grand View University. I hold a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). I want to ensure the best possible experience is achieved through our therapeutic relationship.

I work with individuals and families across all ages and stages of life, with a focus on teenagers, young adults, and LGBTQ+ clients. It is my goal to provide my clients with connection, empowerment, self-knowledge, and practical techniques to help them thrive even when they are feeling most isolated and misunderstood.

Life can be profoundly challenging and at times, it can be overwhelmingly difficult and disheartening. At times we may feel like we hate ourselves, or life hates us and we may need help to face those challenges. You deserve happiness and love. We’re all human and you don’t have to do the hard stuff alone. I welcome anyone from all backgrounds with open arms and offer a sense of love and belonging. I offer a laid-back approach where at times I believe laughter can help us cope. I value an authentic relationship between myself and you.

Clients ages 3 through 62 are served well. Using client - centered modality focusing on solution based strategies, we can tackle any or all of your challenges. We are well equipped to assist with ADHD/ADD, anger, impulse, ODD, CO, trauma, self esteem, to name a few. We can serve those needing help with coping skills for divorce, suicide, grief, bullying, sibling rivalry. Anger management and emotional regulation can be addressed. Any struggle large or small in your lives can be discussed. We want to aid you in reaching happiness and harmony and help with communication and skills.

Coming to therapy requires some bravery, and I am excited to join you in learning more about yourself and exploring your story. I have experience in working with many ages, and am currently taking clients ages 11 and up. My greatest joy as a therapist is giving people new ideas and ways of understanding themselves and their life stories, which can broaden the way they are living. I love to work with finding meaning in your life, exploring personal symbolism, images, and stories, and working with your strengths and resources to move you towards greater life satisfaction. I'll look forward to meeting you!

The path on this journey of life is twisting and winding with many detours, and it can be difficult to navigate on our own. The therapy hour is time carved out just for the client; a safe place with no shame, where people can give voice to their stories.
