Hello and welcome to my psychotherapy practice. Whatever it is that brings you to pursue therapy now, I commend you. Seeking and starting therapy means you are activated and looking for guidance, so congratulations, you are taking the first step. I know well the courage and willingness it takes to ask for help.

YOU ARE DOING "ALL*THE*THINGS," but you’re emotionally and physically exhausted all the time. You're on autopilot, going through the daily motions, but not living your best life. You put your needs last, with caring for others first. You don’t want to burden or worry your friends or family, with your problems. You self sacrifice only to stay stressed and unfulfilled, with your life and relationships. There is no work-life balance and you don’t know where to start. You don't have to continue down this stressful path, you can gain back energy. CHANGE IS POSSIBLE. With getting the right help, you can create a life worth living!

As a psychodynamic therapist, I often work with clients who are interested in their relationship to themselves, working on healing anxiety, depression, codependency, relationships, and life transitions. My approach tends to be depth-oriented and existential, for example, how we connect with our deeper self, how we make meaning of our lives and experiences, and how we create our own stories. Rather than focus on how we can "fix" things, I believe we have to look at how we relate to the parts of ourselves that we feel like we need to "fix". I support my clients in creating more self-acceptance and meaning in their lives.

If your kids would just let you, you would be such a good parent. You’re so tired of fighting with them over getting out of the bath or getting into the bath - and sometimes you lose that fight. Arguing has become the norm. You don’t want to be a drill sergeant, but it would be such a relief if they just did what you asked without turning it into World War III. You want to respect their big feelings, but you also want your littles to respect you. You haven’t found a way out of this cycle and you worry that you’re ruining your kids.

The clients that are drawn to working with me are individuals who are determined to free themselves from emotional oppression. Negative life experiences can hinder our ability to grow into our full potential and can cause us to engage in unhealthy relationships with ourselves, the ones we love and the world around us. It is with love and compassion that I work in partnership with my clients to discover what inner wounds and needs there are to be tended to. Additionally, I am drawn to working with couples and families that are experiencing high conflict within their relationships.

We all have times where we could use some extra support. I offer a warm, engaged presence to help foster healing and growth. I believe we all have the capacity to heal but that we sometimes need a partner or guide to help us look deeply at the parts of our lives that need attention. I feel honored to be able to provide compassionate psychotherapy to individuals wanting to gain insight into old patterns, heal from past trauma and make needed changes in their lives.

Sex addiction impacts the addict and their partner. Sex addicts may experience preoccupation with sexual thoughts, hide sexual behaviors or activity from others, have sought help for problematic sexual behaviors, feel controlled by their sexual desire, feel depressed after sexual behavior, or notice others have suffered due to their sexual behavior? Partners of sex addicts may experience shock, intense anger, fear, and/or pain about their partner’s sexual behaviors, experience unexpected drops in sexual interest, feel like they are on an emotional roller coaster, or notice that past trauma keeps coming back and impacting them.

The world is a wild and wondrous place to exist. There is so much to be curious about as we follow our respective paths. However, sometimes the path can become obscured causing us to feel lost, confused, even scared or defeated. Amidst the constant buzz of living, we need a place of stillness, of safety, to see ourselves clearly again. I am here to provide you a safe, judgement-free holding space to explore your own path and rediscover yourself in it. In our work together, we will focus on using the strength of human connection as a bridge to our own healing.

I find working in this field very rewarding. I strive to create a warm and safe environment for people to explore self-identity, personal development, relational dynamics, process trauma, create solutions, and increase strengths in order to support people in living the life they want and deserve. The base of my approach is person-centered in order to support the individual or family I am working with. From there I will draw from various theoretical orientations, including evidence based modalities and/or trauma informed approaches, in order to provide interventions that are the correct fit for you.

Many people come to therapy experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or some other phase of life issue. People who find working with me helpful tend to want to go beyond treating symptoms to understanding what is keeping them stuck and working towards being freed from internal conflicts that are blocking them from enjoying their lives. They are seeking self-discovery, healing, understanding, and growth.

I work exclusively with couples . I am a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist and a consultant for professionals that are learning how to use the Gottman method. I offer couples a complete assessment of their relationship and research-based tools to change the way they moves through time together. Currently, I am only working with couples doing intensive treatment; it consists in a 4-hour assessment the first day and two days of treatment of 6 to 8 hours each. If the couple lives in the area, we can work on sections of 4 hours per day as needed.

Between my life experience and my years of clinical work, I bring a broad depth of knowledge to my work as a therapist. This helps me to better understand and help my clients with the dilemmas they bring. I combine a non-shaming atmosphere with careful listening, and then bring forth tools and knowledge for them to use in their life outside the therapy room.

Whatever the reason you are seeking therapy, I believe a caring and supportive relationship is the foundation for the work. Rather than pathologize experience, I seek to support an exploration the full range of experience and to collaboratively create a process where clients are able to better access internal and external resources as they navigate life’s inevitable challenges and connect to its joys. My goal is to walk with you as you make choices that are self-supportive and aligned with your sense of well-being, meaning and values. I welcome all parts of you, especially parts that have been suppressed or oppressed.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in 95404?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
