I believe that play is essential to a child's growing and learning process as children naturally communicate through play. Play therapy can be utilized as a way for children and adolescents to express themselves, explore and process their experiences and feelings through play/art. I am here to partner with you and your family to support in growing a child or adolescent's ability to process through, cope and regulate with difficult life transitions, school related difficulties, emotional and behavioral challenges, grief/loss, social skills, attachment, trauma and self-exploration.

We will use art and dreams as a doorway to your healing.
Life offers us all challenges, and sometimes those challenges may seem unbearable or especially unique. Some of us experience difficulties from the time we are little children- trauma, abuse, neglect. We each have unique abilities and strengths. Sometimes, we have trouble accessing our strengths, but you have gifts in your being that are your gifts and strengths alone. My goal in working with you is to act as a catalyst -to encourage you to find your talents, abilities, and strengths that will serve you in coping with whatever difficulty life has given you.

I like to think out side the box, I use sand therapy and art in my sessions.
I have over 25 years experience work with pre teens (middle school), adolescents, women, men and families. I believe we are all unique in our own way, our uniqueness is what makes us special, it's our “super power”. With this belief that we are all so different and unique, I use all this great knowledge I’ve gained over the years and I personalize your therapy. I use different modalities determining on what your needs are. I do not use just one technique for all my clients, I use many and I mold them around you… mold them to your own uniqueness. I give clients a safe, non-judgmental space to deal with their issues.

We can talk, make art, explore dreams, and play, and I can offer my curiosity, sense of humor, and grounding presence along the way.
Do you long for freedom to show up differently in your relationship with yourself, including your relationship with food, your body, and the way you relate to the natural world? If you're ready to embark on the path to full, embodied recovery, I can help you align with your authenticity, break free from behaviors, discover choice, and meet yourself with more compassion. By gaining a deeper understanding of who you are, we will work toward helping you move from a place of connection and desire, rather than fear. Together we will uncover the patterns that keep you stuck, learning the old story to make space for a new one to unfold.

I love using storytelling, nature, & art as forms of healing.
Looking for a therapist who understands health, spirit, & wellness issues related to the Native, Indigenous, or BIPOC communities? Maybe you or your child has experienced historical or intergenerational trauma that affects school or job growth. Maybe you're feeling a sense of inner desire to heal past wounds & increase your quality of life. Perhaps you're in need of better communication skills, managing your feelings, or understanding and bettering the many symptoms of grief, anxiety, and sadness. I understand the importance of having a therapist who prioritizes culture & can relate to the lived experiences you have been through.

I provide individual psychotherapy and art therapy to children, adolescents, and adults.
By centering personal values and a self-compassion practice, I work to help my clients reconnect to their inner compass and move towards what they truly want. I approach therapy through a relational lens informed by attachment theory, though utilize other modalities like ACT, IFS, and DBT. I incorporate mindfulness to promote a nonjudgmental inquiry into the negative core beliefs that hold us back. All of that said, YOU are the expert on YOU, and I aim to be a witness to your process, providing nudges and maybe even some laughs along the way.

Are you looking for a therapeutic approach that is different than what you might be used to? Are you ready to explore the root of the problem that is continuing to cause you the symptoms you are struggling with? By using approaches such as, Art Therapy, EMDR, IFS and Reiki I can offer you something in addition to talk therapy. These approaches target verbal areas of the brain that shut down during a traumatic event(s). Reiki can be described as a spiritual/energetic approach that is often referred to as a "massage for the soul".

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
