I have specific training, education, and experience in treating children and adolescents with play,
art
, experiential therapy that includes the parents and the client's ecology like their school and community in applying behavioral strategies to improve behavior and emotions; and increase problem solving, coping skills, and communication skills.
My typical clients are children and adolescents who are struggling with a specific change, transition, trauma incident, loss, or other stressor that is causing behavioral and emotional concerns, like defiance, anxiety, depression, self-harm, which interferes with school, home-life, and other relationships. Clients have goals to decrease behavioral concerns at home and school, improve emotions, coping skills, communication skills, and school performance. A lot of parents want their children to listen, respect, and connect and communicate with them. I also work with individual adults, families and couples.

I bring Trauma-informed yoga, reiki, applied shamanism techniques, creative expression through
art
& imagination, self-exploration through myths, folklore, shadow work, dreams, & astrology.
I work with deep feeling souls who are dedicated to social change & who struggle with trauma, grief, anxiety & depression. Does this sound familiar? You feel ALL the feels & deeply long for intimacy, yet guard your heart because your vulnerability has been weaponized against you in the past. You feel trapped in quicksand, holding the weight of the world. Emotions feel all-encompassing because the world hurts & you can’t fix it. You are here to fulfill your life’s purpose, yet your voice feels swallowed by the noise. You no longer need to search. You are not alone. You are right where you need to be!

Art
as Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, DBT, EMDR, IFS, and more.
My clients, from teens to elders, identify with the wide and beautiful LGBTQAI spectrum, and their therapy with me is colored by the gifts and hardships of living Queer. Improving relationships, finding stigma-free resources, managing HIV, uncovering sexuality, boosting self-esteem, understanding anxiety and depression, healing past traumas, practicing ‘coming out’, and learning self-care are examples of the work that happens in the therapy room with me. My clients are courageous, honest, and motivated to explore ways to discover their personal power —and then own that power out in the world.

Accepting new clients. I look at everyone's individual healing journey through a collaborative lens focusing on mind & body. Our minds & bodies hold on to traumas, depression, anxiety, etc & store it. I will help you assess the true roots to your issues & walk the path of growth together. I do not believe in “cookie cutter” therapy methods, which is giving every client the same skills and treatment. Instead we get to know the client & personalize their treatment to fit their needs, wants, beliefs & life experiences.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
