Art Therapy in Denver, CO
Hello, I’m Felicia, and I’ve been working with adults, children and families for more than 12 years. I’m passionate about helping people live their best lives through discovering their inner resources and helping families develop the skills and systems that work for them. While I have the training and experience, I believe that YOU are the expert on YOU. My job is to give guidance and resources, but you are the captain of your ship. You get to decide where that ship takes you, and it's my great privilege and honor to help you do so in whatever way I can.

I use a variety of tools including art and expressive therapies, unconditional support, and a neurobiological framework that provides context and direction.
My ideal clients are those who have experienced complex trauma, families needing support, LGBTQIA+ individuals seeking affirmation and self-discovery, and those hoping to find stability and sense of self. I am also accepting supervisees who are interested in deepening their practice.
Trauma isolates us; we struggle with difficult emotions, self-doubt, and finding a sense of belonging. Through therapeutic connection, I hope to allow my clients the experience of feeling seen, understood, and supported in a way that makes space for strength, hope, connection, and joy.

I am here to help you find life’s rainbows! Despite the storms, you are not alone. I want to give you the space and support you need to achieve the life you dream of. Life is too short to continue walking the paths that detour you from reaching everything you want. I will walk by your side through this journey because, let’s face it, life can be really hard and therapy can feel daunting and uncomfortable. Therapy can also provide new perspectives, growth, and healing. I believe therapy is a space for you to share your unique story.

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with eight years of experience in person-centered and narrative-based therapy, working with youth through adulthood, with a particular focus on teens and young adults. Together, we'll navigate a confusing world so you can build greater self-understanding.
I believe our past holds the key to our present behaviors, and that key can open the door to changing our future ones. The issues we struggle with aren't always the root cause, though; my goal is to help you identify what's truly underlying them, so we can get to the heart of what's going on.

I practice person-centered therapy, which means that I aim to create a therapeutic environment of empathy, acceptance, and authenticity. During sessions, I give suggestions about techniques to try and skills to practice, but I believe my clients are the experts on their lives and what works best for them. My goal is to empower my clients to determine how they want to move forward rather than telling them what to do. I strive not to judge my clients for their actions; instead, I help them uncover the underlying thoughts and motivations behind their behaviors.

I regularly draw from a range of modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic exploration, and occasional art therapy.
Many of my clients may look successful on the outside but feel stuck in the same painful patterns underneath. They find themselves overthinking relationships, questioning their worth, people-pleasing, struggling to set boundaries, or feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, self-doubt, and disconnection. They know something needs to change, but they're not sure how to get there. For over 18 years, I've helped individuals understand the deeper roots of these struggles and create lasting change. Together, we'll explore the patterns that keep showing up in your life—not with judgment or shame, but with curiosity and compassion.

To heal trauma I often use EMDR to heal the roots, somatic therapy to nourish, Art Therapy to see yourself, & psychedelic integration for profound shifts.
I work with women & queer folx who know all the ways trauma holds them back, and are ready to shift from intellectualized insight into embodied healing and action. I help people who feel burnt out, overwhelmed & chronically triggered, with trophies in people pleasing, isolation, shame, running on empty, snapping at loved ones and racing thoughts of never enough-ness. You may look fine from the outside, but your nervous system has been working overtime, and probably for a long time. With 15 years in trauma recovery I'm here to help you find resilience, put those trauma ghosts to rest and step into the life you're craving.

What do you value? What do you need right now in order to be able to pursue those values? Sometimes life experiences and stress can make it difficult to focus on what is most meaningful to us. For many, this can amplify feelings of anxiety, depression, and disconnection. You are not alone.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
