Hello. I'm Claudia. Hola! Hablo español. Helping others and being a support has always been my passion. For the past 20 years, I have worked in the mental health field, helping individuals and families during times of crisis, brought on by various stressors, mental health conditions and/or past or current trauma(s). I believe healing from trauma, whether it is a single or complex trauma, can happen in many forms. I see you as the expert in your life and me as a support person who is happy to share knowledge and tools.

Are you curious about the impact of your past on your present? Are you curious about your relationship patterns and choices? Do you often feel misunderstood or invalidated? Do you feel seen and valued for who and how you are? Are you interested in desire, liberation and an expansion of your worldview? I have deep, personal connections to these pathways of inquiry and reflection and am interested in engaging in this work with others.

Sometimes ordinary psychotherapy just isn’t “it”. Most women entering my practice come due to persistent sexual and emotional problems that regular psychotherapy analyzed but did not effectively facilitate. Sometimes, “How does it make you feel?” Is too little and insufficient for change. You are left with an inventory of your issues and little change. You will likely find me quite different to the above. I don’t fit the mold because I studied to be the answer to the above in my practices.

Life is filled with beautiful moments and painful ones. I am committed to helping my clients navigate through the rough patches of life. I love seeing people overcome their struggles and find the inner strength to resolve their distress. I have experienced the pain of life and have also experienced great victory. I've witnessed clients transform their lives by making important subconscious connections and committing to the process of therapy. I believe everyone was created with a purpose and plan, and I would love to walk along side of you to assist you in your journey.

My greatest passion is performing my duties as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I feel honored working with clients who seek mental health treatment. I serve adults, adolescents, and children, with proficiency in various treatment modalities including, but not limited to, individual, group, family and child therapy. I utilize active listening, validation, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. My work is focussed, goal directed, purpose and problem centered, offering support, warmth, caring, and deep regard for clients' rights and potentials for change. I accept Medicare and MediCal/IEHP insurance. Additionally, I accept private insurance - Blue Cross, CHIPA, Value Options, MHN, Aetna, TriCAre, etc.

Adulting is already hard enough; throw in infertility, postpartum depression/anxiety, pregnancy following loss (heIlo, anxiety!), loss/grief/bereavement, trauma, relationship/communication issues, boundaries and family conflict and now you've got discomfort, unpleasant feelings, disconnection and stress. While we may not be able to change all of the obstacles in your life, we can work collaboratively to adjust expectations, reinforce coping skills, strengthen resilience, improve communication skills, set boundaries, process trauma and elicit clarity and direction. (This is a boutique group Telehealth practice).

Channeling through life moments despite how troubling, traumatic or challenging they are requires some sort of "emotional grit." These experiences create responses and behaviors that are not healthy for us - anxiety, depression, impulsivity, anger, addiction etc. At times, these situations are out of our control and stem from our relationship experiences from childhood to now. There is room for growth despite what we have been through. We need Empathy that is genuine and a safe space to HEAL as we go in depth into our experiences and desire to create a value in us as we take time to "breathe, process, and heal," without bias!

The Calm in the Wilderness is a ministry that exists to provide emotional and mental support through spiritual and biblical foundations to those who experience difficulties in finding balance. The fundamentals used in providing counseling services is created using faith-based approach using the foundations of Scripture and the gospels of Jesus Christ. We joyously serve those who are in need of realignment in their daily lives. Genuinely reaching the heart of any challenges/trials in life opens the opportunity of building from the inside out. Walking together in this process develops your personal transformation of mind and heart.

I’m about to retire. Not taking new clients. Thank you! We know that we pass down our hair color and eye color from generation to generation. We even know that we pass down risk for heart disease, cancer and even addiction. What we don't realize is that we also pass down risk for affairs, partner abuse, and child abuse. When we hide these things in shame, we create a culture of secrets, lies, and BS. I believe we can break these repeating, dysfunctional patterns patterns in our own lives and in our family's lives, and that we can help our children not to repeat them unintentionally.

My ideal client is anyone who wants to make healthy changes in their life. The thing I love most about being a therapist is helping people change things in their lives that keep them from being the happiest, healthiest version of themselves that they can be. If they are willing to begin to take steps, I am thrilled to walk along side them and not give up until they reach their goals. I am happy to work with individual who have complex mental illness or who are simply working through change and transitions. I am comfortable working from a faith-based or a secular approach. I just want to help my clients function better.
