My goal is to provide a safe trusting environment to empower & motivate clients to explore issues in their lives that have contributed to the development of maladaptive thinking & behavior patterns. These patterns are often not recognized as problematic and can contribute to making "poor decisions" such as substance abuse, overeating, blaming, relationship problems etc.... By resolving these issues and changing these patterns clients can discover personal growth, happiness & improved satisfaction with their lives.

I am trained in ERP and other CBT modalities for OCD, and use a foundation of somatic, psychodynamic, and attachment-based approaches to guide emotional processing and trauma release.
Welcome! Clients who seek out therapy with me often describe feeling bound by anxiety, overthinking, feeling trapped in a cycle of obsessive thoughts and compulsions, phobias, low self-esteem, panic attacks, and suspected or known trauma. These struggles are heavy and imposing, and my clients show up with a strong desire to gain freedom from that which isn't serving them - they just need the right kind of guidance to get there.

Although I primarily practice through a psychodynamic foundation, I offer approaches that support healing from trauma through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as creating healthier relationships through Attachment-Based Therapy, and helping you manage and break free from eating disorders through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
If you are here, I imagine you may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or you are unsure what you may be feeling. Whether you have been to therapy before or considering trying it for the first time, I am committed to helping you identify and remove the barriers of eating disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, life transitions, relationship issues, and problematic sexual behaviors. I will work with you to remove these barriers by establishing a safe, empathetic, and supportive environment. In addition, I will work to facilitate a strong therapeutic relationship, which I find to be a catalyst of change.

My approach draws from the work of existential, narrative, family-systems, and attachment-based therapies.
Mary Oliver says, "Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting - over and over announcing your place in the family of things." I believe your life is inherently valuable. Your story has meaning. No matter where you're at or what you've experienced, hope still beckons. Not with a guarantee of certainty, but with a promise of fullness, healing, and belonging. My hope as a licensed therapist is to meet with those in the midst of pain and uncertainty as they pursue growth and a greater sense of connection and authenticity.

By exploring our wounds from a place of empathy and curiosity, it is possible to discover strength and meaning, even gratitude, in our greatest challenges.

“Family dysfunction rolls from generation to generation like a fire in the woods taking down everything in its path until one person, in one generation, has the courage to turn and face the flames. That person brings peace to his ancestors and spares the children that follow.” — Terry Real. Taking a step towards therapy is an act of bravery. An act that can begin to open up space for healing in your life or in your relationships.

We all have difficult life experiences at times and need an understanding partner to help us process and address those experiences.

Everyone thinks you’ve got it together, but the loud, incessant voice of your inner critic is telling you that you’re never going to be enough. You are a perfectionist and take pride in the things you do. When you hear the words, “imposter syndrome”, you can completely relate. You hope nobody knows that you truly don’t have it together at all. You struggle in relationships, and part of you knows that it may have something to do with your dysfunctional childhood and never feeling seen. You have big emotions, you don’t want to be seen as “too much”, and you most definitely don’t want to feel rejected.

With each interaction I find that striking a balance between a safe therapeutic space and appropriate challenges leads to the most holistic healing and deeper insights. I believe in a top-down and bottom-up approach when it comes to therapy. I hope to encourage a client to take responsibility over their own life while recognizing and validating the larger systems and realities that impact them. The ultimate goal is to translate growth within the therapy room to a client’s actual day-to-day life. Overall, I hope to empower clients to uncover new healthier ways of being for themselves.

I am certified in EMDR, Brainspotting and Clinical Hypnotherapy, powerful mind-body therapies which facilitate healing at a deep/core level (not just symptom management). I integrate these modalities with talk therapies, however, results typically occur in much less time than traditional talk therapy alone.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
