My goal is to provide a safe trusting environment to empower & motivate clients to explore issues in their lives that have contributed to the development of maladaptive thinking & behavior patterns. These patterns are often not recognized as problematic and can contribute to making "poor decisions" such as substance abuse, overeating, blaming, relationship problems etc.... By resolving these issues and changing these patterns clients can discover personal growth, happiness & improved satisfaction with their lives.

I am passionate about coming alongside others in a compassionate and collaborative way. I work from an attachment-based , trauma informed, mindfulness framework. I have training in EFT, a therapeutic modality that helps couples create safe and secure connection. I also utilize nervous system regulation and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I believe that it takes strength and courage to share our stories, and that transformation happens when we are seen and heard from a compassionate place. I consider it an honor to walk alongside others on that journey and provide that space where healing can occur.

Although I primarily practice through a psychodynamic foundation, I offer approaches that support healing from trauma through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as creating healthier relationships through Attachment-Based Therapy, and helping you manage and break free from eating disorders through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
If you are here, I imagine you may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or you are unsure what you may be feeling. Whether you have been to therapy before or considering trying it for the first time, I am committed to helping you identify and remove the barriers of eating disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, life transitions, relationship issues, and problematic sexual behaviors. I will work with you to remove these barriers by establishing a safe, empathetic, and supportive environment. In addition, I will work to facilitate a strong therapeutic relationship, which I find to be a catalyst of change.

My approach draws from the work of narrative, existential, person-centered, and attachment-based therapies.
Mary Oliver says, "Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting - over and over announcing your place in the family of things." I truly believe your life is inherently valuable and that your story has meaning. No matter where you're at, or what you've experienced, hope still beckons. Not with a guarantee of certainty, but with a promise of fullness, health, and belonging. I have a strong desire to help people face their biggest opportunities, challenges, and hurt in the pursuit of greater joy, peace, freedom, and ultimately, life.

Feeling heard and understood is an important experience in therapy. Within a non-judgmental and supportive environment, my clients increase personal insight and explore new ways of understanding current situations. In addition to increasing personal awareness, our work might focus on ways to respond differently in challenging situations causing stress. My practice is ideal for those interested in a depth-oriented therapy that goes beyond symptom focus and looks to integrate and enrich self-understanding to create healthy, adaptive narratives about oneself and one's situation.

The day starts and self-doubt kicks in. Finding the energy to do what you need for others and yourself feels impossible. You're juggling so many roles as spouse, parent, child, business owner, friend, you name it and somehow have lost sight of yourself in the constant pressures of daily life. This leaves you riddled at times with anxiety, sadness, unpredicted tears- ultimately feeling depleted and angry that this cycle doesn't end. Then the secret thoughts begin: "Maybe I'm not good enough or worthy? I have no control. I should have known better. I've failed again..." Communicating these feelings is hard, leaving you stuck.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
