I utilize mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and somatic-based practices.
I’m passionate about working with adults (24+) that are navigating difficult life transitions, trauma, complex trauma, attachment wounds, relationship issues, identity development, low self-esteem, anxiety, family conflict, depression, and overwhelming stress. I work through a LGBTQIA+-affirming, trauma-informed, and social justice-oriented lens in order to cultivate a safe, collaborative space where folks can show up wholly and reconnect to their authentic, intuitive selves. I utilize a compassionate and curious approach to empower folks to uncover and utilize their own unique innate strengths and resiliency.

I Integrate evidenced based therapy, somatic & mindfulness approaches to assist with soothing the nervous system & establishing safety in the body.
Trauma and challenges are something we have all faced at some point in our lives. Everyone tells you to go to therapy and heal but sometimes " healing" doesn't feel all that easy. Sometimes you have no idea where to start but know you need to. Sometimes it feels like falling backwards when you’re trying to move forward. Sometimes it feels like needing support but not knowing how to ask for it. Have these thoughts crossed your mind? I know they have crossed mine. You deserve the peace of mind you are seeking. Are you ready to take that step today?

I incorporate somatic approaches to our work because they work.
Although you may feel scratched, dented or even shattered at times in your life, you are not broken. Successes and challenges are only part of who you are, and humans learn by doing, which sometimes means growth at the rate of pain. If you've experienced trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, confusion, boredom, relationship/communication challenges, or a loss of confidence, I'm here for you. Therapy can help you gain the perspective and skills to be who you want to be.

I am a support in guiding you through your thoughts and beliefs, changing behaviors, navigating narratives and stories that you have about your life, looking into our past to help determine our why, analyzing dreams, exploring subconscious ideas, opening up patterns and systems, and using somatic/mind and body approaches to deregulate your nervous system.
Are you wanting to begin or restart your therapy journey? Are you hoping to understand more about yourself and create positive changes to enjoy your life more fully? We are made up of thoughts and behaviors, as well as pre-determined biases and beliefs, from our experience in life. As we navigate life, these areas may start to change. The internal wants/needs vs external experience of life may become shifted and not entirely in alignment any longer. This can cause anxiety, obsessive behaviors, disordered thinking/acting, and lack of connection with ourselves, in addition to many other symptoms of mental health unmet needs.

Additionally, I often employ techniques from expressive arts therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and somatic-informed approaches.
I know firsthand how scary it can be trying to navigate tumultuous thoughts and feelings on your own, and then trying to trust someone else to help you make sense of them! My own experience in mental health is what inspired me to become a therapist that can offer clients assistance in times of distress as a partner that will walk alongside them to support them at their pace. I approach therapy from a holistic lens to explore and address all aspects of health that the client wants to bring into the session, including but not limited to the implications of physical health, spiritual health, social health, and intellectual health.

I do this through person-centered internal family systems, acceptance and commitment therapy, somatic and attachment-focused EMDR, and the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music.
To be human is to experience great joy and great pain; sensitive people feel that pain on a deep level that can be overwhelming. Whether your pain stems from traumatic experiences, attachment wounds, or emotional needs that aren’t being met, therapy can help you sit with the pain while still building a meaningful and rich life. Therapy can help you claim your sensitivity for what it is--an exquisite gift to be honored instead of an overwhelming enemy.

I have training in IFS, NARM, & somatic interventions and have experience working with CPTSD, self-esteem issues, shame, anxiety, depression, and disordered eating.
Do you lack confidence in who you are and what you have to offer? Maybe you find it hard to ask for what you want and be assertive. You might carry feelings of guilt, shame, powerlessness, disconnection to self and others. I get it. I know the feeling. And I'm inspired by you being here. How beautiful is it that no matter the pain we've trudged through to get here, there's still a part of us whispering: I matter. I deserve love & peace & healing. I am more than the story I've been told. It might be hard to believe that part of you, if you grew up in a home or endured an experience that told you otherwise.

I often include somatic techniques into sessions, such as deep breathing & trauma-informed yoga.
Do you feel anxious, disconnected from life or loved ones, or find yourself constantly reacting to those around you? Do you find that you don’t feel like yourself but can’t seem to figure out why? You may have unhealed trauma. Trauma is just a fancy word meaning ‘wound.’ Similar to physical trauma, emotional wounds exist in our mind and body. So no, you are not ‘crazy.’ Unhealed trauma can lead us to hold negative stories about ourselves, others, and even God. Maybe you feel frozen or stuck in one aspect of your story and wonder why you can’t ‘just move on’ from something that happened to you, or from something going on inside you.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?

In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?

An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?

It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?

HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?

Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?

Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer Employee Assistance Plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy.

What is an Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)?

Employee Assistance Plans are purchased by employers for the benefit of their employees. EAPs typically assist employees with referrals and may also provide the first few sessions of therapy free of charge, with the patient's regular health insurance kicking in after those initial sessions. EAP benefits often apply to all types of therapy without the need for a medical diagnosis, making it easier to access couples therapy, therapy for life transitions, and other non-medical counseling. Just as with standard health insurance, clients should always check that a provider accepts their EAP benefits before scheduling.
