As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I believe in practical and person-centered therapy, meaning you are in charge of the process while I guide and support you. I specialize in using Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help manage big emotions and change unhelpful patterns. Dialectical work challenges us to understand seemingly opposing thoughts and feelings. In DBT, we focus on building skills in 4 areas: Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotional Regulation, and Distress Tolerance to help achieve our goals.
In sessions, I incorporate various modalities including behavioral therapies and somatic practices, such as breath work and grounding techniques, to assist in managing effects of stress and trauma. I have been a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) and have experience supporting individuals and families through the challenges of substance use.
I enjoy working with students and people of all ages, as well as parents, couples, and families. I focus on creating an environment that is safe, understanding, and free from judgment. DBT Skills Group (not currently meeting)
On Hiatus--This virtual skills group for adults meets weekly on Thursdays from 12:00-1:00 pm and is currently open to new members. Our focus is on learning and practicing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills to increase mindfulness, improve the quality of our relationships, assist in managing big emotions, and learn to navigate through crises without making things worse.
