Hi! My name is Kat & I can help you with chronic relapse, relapse prevention, ADHD, stress & anxiety, men's issues, and self-esteem.
Are you stressed out, overwhelmed, struggling in relationships, and unsure what to do next? You wonder, "where do I go from here.” You want something better for yourself but don't know what to do or how to get there. I work with adults who are struggling with substances, or in recovery, and their families to manage stress, control their emotions, and find purpose & peace. Trying to navigate the waters of recovery alone can be a recipe for disaster; at worst it means relapse, at best it means a life of being restless, irritable, and discontent.

I specialize in working with goal-oriented adults who are struggling with addiction, ADHD, or anxiety and are ready to make meaningful changes to develop a stronger sense of confidence in managing their lives.
You’ve realized you’re drinking or getting high more than you planned to and more than you want to but don’t know how to stop. The shame is dragging you down and you’re too embarrassed to admit you have a "problem." People in your life are concerned and want to offer help but what they’re offering just isn’t what you think you need. You might be numbing how you feel about letting things get to this point and not being able to change. Maybe someone else thinks your behavior is a problem and as much as you’d rather just get them off your back, there’s a part of you that’s starting to agree and wonder what you can do about it.

I work from a place of respect, kindness, and understanding, and truly believe that we all add incredible value to the world.
Does your child dance to the beat of a different drum? Maybe you’ve watched them struggle to “find their people,” gain acceptance, and hit their stride. They’re sensitive, easily overwhelmed, and anxious. If you’ve been at this for a while, they may already have a diagnosis of ADHD, Autism, PDA, or DMDD. You try so hard to understand your child, but you’re hitting a wall and feeling frustrated. You love them with all of your heart, but parenting feels so complicated. Is it your fault? Are you missing something? You wish you knew so that you could make things better.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
