Thank you for taking the time to read my bio and inform yourself about how I might be of help to you. I believe deeply that life is meant to be lived rather than survived. However, it is not that uncommon for the collective experiences and traumas of life to push us into a way of functioning that can begin to feel more like survival. Despite our best efforts we can begin to feel discouraged, anxious, depressed and exhausted. These feelings can lead to choices and behaviors that are destructive to ourselves and those we love.

I’m a therapist at Campion Counseling, a practice dedicated to providing affirming, client-centered care all over Washington State. I specialize in helping individuals navigate anxiety, relationship challenges, and identity exploration—including marital changes, parenting, non-monogamy, kink, and religious transitions. I am not your conventional psychotherapist. My journey into the world of mental health is uniquely shaped by my background as an outdoor journalist and lived experiences of grief, loss, tragedy, and trauma. Driven by a passion to bridge storytelling with holistic healing (I'm a certified psychedelic/ketamine-assisted therapist), I use my sincere interest in the human experience in the therapy setting to treat adults, couples, and families living with shame, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, addiction, and life transitions and questions. As the Sufi poet Rumi once wrote, “The cure for pain is in the pain.”

I enjoy working with clients who are looking to belong as themselves and experience their lives more fully in the present, coming in with diverse identities and neurotypes (LGBTQIA2S+, Autism and ADHD). In sessions we will work together to build a safe relational context for growing and exploring your relationship with your whole self. We might use expressive arts therapy like visual and tactile arts, somatic based approaches like EMDR, yoga, meditation, breathwork, movement and dance, or use more cognitive strategies for problem solving and developing new ways of thinking and engaging your strengths.

I enjoy working with clients who are experiencing difficult life transitions, adoption, sexual trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, and those who aren't quite sure what category they would fall into. Once you walk into the room it is up to the therapist & the client to figure out how the therapist can facilitate personal life growth. In session we will learn to express ourselves through art, nature, our bodies and minds. We may take a walk, create something abstract or sit and talk; the therapy adventure is yours and I am simply a therapist to guide you towards stability, growth and your highest potential.

Struggling in midlife? Menopausal? Empty-nested? Relationship struggles? Role shifts? Questions with your identity? The roles you’ve long carried—parent, caregiver, achiever—no longer define you as they once did. You may feel grief, confusion, freedom, fear, or even a stirring curiosity. This chapter is unlike any that came before. Emotionally, mentally, hormonally, sexually, spiritually, physically—everything begins to shift. While it can feel deeply isolating, I want you to know you don’t have to walk through it alone. I work with women and men navigating midlife transitions who find themselves asking, Who am I now?

The decision to seek help is a personal one, often made after trying everything to remedy our circumstances. Childhood issues, symptoms of anxiety and depression, relational issues, and personal loss can take a toll. With over 20 years of counseling individuals and families with a wide swath of difficult circumstances, I have learned to provide a supportive, non-judgmental, truthful, and safe environment that promotes self confidence and hope in overcoming and breaking through the obstacles we all face from time to time

Understanding your emotional world is the first step to unlearning the defense mechanisms and behavioral patterns that have arisen over time. Often we have learned habits of interaction that harm more than hurt. Limiting and negative self-beliefs are reinforced, and relationships suffer as a result. My client is a couple or individual that is ready for deep emotional work, who will bring authenticity to our interactions, and is eager for change that heals. You might be a couple who feels trapped in a pattern of conflict, or a teen or adult overwhelmed by anxiety or who carries the weight of past abuse or trauma.

I believe counseling includes discussing a variety of issues, primarily focusing on agreed upon areas of change. While counseling may at times feel uncomfortable due to talking about difficult issues, it should leave you with a better understanding of yourself and/or your family. There may be activities or "homework" to do between sessions. You are an active participant in the process, and if it does not seem to be working, discuss this with me at any time. I have over 10 years of working with children, adolescents, young adults and families & look forward to possibly working with you.

Life with health anxiety, chronic health conditions, or both can feel like an endless struggle. The relentless cycle of managing symptoms, the fear and uncertainty about the future, and the sense that your world is shrinking can make it overwhelming to even get through the day—let alone keep up with work, relationships, and everything else. On top of that, the weight of shame and invisibility can feel crippling. It’s heavy, and I see you. But there IS hope. You CAN find relief, reclaim your identity beyond your diagnosis, and live a life filled with joy, purpose, and meaning again. I’m here to help you navigate your path to freedom.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in 99204?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
