My philosophy of therapy is that people sometimes get to a point in life where they can no longer tolerate old ways of dealing with problems (i.e. substance abuse, avoidance, blaming, hiding, etc). No matter how big or how small those problems are, you may need to establish new ways of coping. I strongly believe that people can begin to recover from many mental health issues by setting their sights on the life they want, rather than continuing to run from the life they don't want. If you feel like you've been living in darkness, and want to feel the light on your face (or in your heart) again; I suggest you consider therapy.

We are a diverse practice with locations in Lake Norman and Winston-Salem that provides psychotherapy in person or online, psychological testing, consulting services, and clinical supervision in NC. We serve children ages 3 and up, families, teens, couples and adults. We also provide educational consulting for 504/IEP planning. Our organizational consulting services help leadership teams grow and learn and our private practice consulting helps clinicians ready to take the leap into private practice. Our clinical supervision services are available to LCMHCA's, LCSWA's, and LPA's in NC.

Clearwater Counseling and Consulting, PLLC, was founded by Elizabeth Kovacs, LCSW, in 2019 as a place of support for adults coping with the stress of caregiving, parenting, chronic illness, and family tension. Located on the shores of Lake Norman, Clearwater Counseling seeks to be a place of comfort and affirmation where teenagers, adults, and senior citizens can find solutions and healthy coping skills. I began my career as a school counselor, and have been in private practice since 2009. I enjoy working with people on an individual basis to guide them toward processing and change. My philosophy of counseling is to meet clients in the space in which they are ready, and help them find where they want to be. My history as a counselor includes working with parent/child relationships, couples and individuals to create more effective communication patterns. I enjoy working with clients as young as 8 through the lifespan.

Kristin strives to create a safe, open and relaxed atmosphere that allows individuals to explore and learn new coping strategies for what brought them into therapy. Kristin utilizes a variety of techniques and interventions in therapy as there is no ‘one size fits all.’

You probably want relief more than anything and I focus on providing that immediately when we begin working together. Our relationship will become a safe space to explore, restructure, and heal parts of your life that are important to you. I treat adolescents and adults dealing with life stressors; including work/school stress, social/familial stress, and more clinical difficulties (anxiety, depression, bipolar, issues related to ADHD). My services also include therapy for twice exceptional youth. I provide psychological/psychoeducational assessments to youth from 6y.o to adults. I work with multicultural populations on issues related acculturation, identity, and other social/familial issues. I also provide therapy services for youth and adults in the LGBTQ+ community.To support people who need to process during this difficult time, I am offering telehealth sessions.
