Hello! I graduated with a degree in nursing from Santa Monica College in 2009. Since that time, I’ve worked in several hospital settings including intensive care. I finished my first masters degree as and Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2017 from California State University at Dominguez Hills and started managing extremely sick people in a long-term acute care hospital One universal I’ve seen throughout my many different careers in and out of healthcare is that the presence (or absence) of good mental health care spells the difference between success and failure in any environment.

At Peak Interactive Wellness, we aren't your typical psychiatric providers. We take a humanistic and positive psychiatry approach. We make medication decisions with you, not for you. We provide alternative treatment options and therapies including nutraceuticals. We work closely with other members of your health care team to form a collaborative approach to your treatment. We can provide referrals to therapists, nutrition experts, crisis services, and more. Adam is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner specializing in psychological trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and addiction issues. He has more than 25 years of experience in mental health, as a psychotherapist with a Cognitive Behavioral approach and as a nurse practitioner. He has helped people from all walks of life, all sorts of life experiences, from the coasts of Washington State to hills of Tennessee and Virginia; urban and rural. He believes our pasts do not dictate our futures; and through a combination of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, we are all capable of change and creating a better life.

You matter, and you deserve good care. If you want a psychiatrist who takes time to listen and has expertise in both psychiatric medicine and psychotherapy, then the way I practice may well be a good fit for you. You bring your story, I'll bring my years of training and experience, and together we'll find a way forward that works for you. My undergraduate degree is from Yale University in psychobiology. I completed medical school and residency in my home state (West Virginia) at the WVU School of Medicine. I'm board certified in psychiatry.

He is committed to serving the people of Colorado, Texas, and Utah. He specializes in helping people who struggle with depression, anxiety, and PTSD, but can treat other mental health afflictions as well (see list for the most commonly treated conditions). Dr. James works exclusively via telehealth to conveniently fit appointments into your busy schedule. Insurance is not accepted at this time, but ask about options for insurance reimbursement.

My experience as a nurse expends 20 years and includes nursing education and emergency room practice. My experience as a provider is 10 years and includes emergency medicine, family practice, geriatrics and practicing as a sexual assault nurse examiner for almost 18 years. My hobbies include cooking and traveling with family and friends. I am a dog lover and proud mother to 2 english bulldogs and 3 human children.

I am currently accepting new patients! Although I am not currently offering controlled substances, I assist individuals in dealing with anxiety and depression by addressing specific mental health needs through coaching, counseling, psychoeducation, medication management, and other psychotherapeutic interventions. Maintaining a person-centered focus and approach to help others reach their mental health goals allows me to provide treatment in a safe, effective manner using evidence-based practice tools.
