Hello! My name is Ava and I am a physician assistant and medical provider focused on providing psychiatric services. Originally an Arizona native, I have had the opportunity to experience and reside in diverse communities across the globe. This experience allowed me an open mind and deep appreciation for the uniqueness of each individual person. I approach healing by creating a safe space for patients to be seen and heard with compassion.
**ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS** I am an ANCC Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority licensed in Arizona and Colorado. I believe everyone's story is unique and people feel best when they receive collaborative care between myself, your primary care physician, and your therapist. An integrative approach allows me to treat you in your entirety, not just your symptoms.
My ideal client is searching for a provider who will take time to listen to their concerns and who is willing to work collaboratively to achieve success in their mental health treatment goals. I will listen and work as a team to find the best interventions, using both medications and lifestyle interventions as needed. Lifestyle changes, diet, exercise, sleep hygiene, therapy, and social networks all play a huge role in our mental health and often can predict our outcomes. It is important for clients to see the value in their own ability to enact change and to feel empowered to improve their symptoms with some guidance.
I prefer to work with people who are interested in pursuing treatment and taking their mental health into their own hands. My patients preferably have their own therapists already and are interested in supplemental medication management. Beyond that, I am very flexible as to individual goals and means of acquiring those goals.
I am a psychiatrist who works with children, teenagers, adults and their families to help them with mental, emotional and behavioral challenges. I employ both psychotherapy and psychiatric medication, when appropriate, to improve the functioning and happiness and alleviate the suffering of my patients. I enjoy, and have experience, working with many different types of people on a wide range of issues.
My role is psychiatric medication management. I support the recovery model of mental health treatment - to be present to help the client meet THEIR goals, not mine. A joy of practice for me is to be able to fine tune psychiatric medications so that clients can live their best life.

It is a privilege to partner with families to work toward helping children and adolescents navigate this world that seems to get more complicated by the day. I value the importance of helping kids and teens be successful in our educational system, to identify and address emotional challenges that arise, to educate and if needed provide treatment for substance abuse concerns, and to encourage habits that support general health and well-being.

Listening to a person share their life story is the starting point for any therapeutic encounter. I am dedicated to hearing everything that a patient is trying to communicate whether that is through words or behaviors. The qualities of my patients that help them maximize their time with me are a sense of openness and curiosity, courage and humility, and trust that together we can discover a new way.
My approach to patient care is one of an open mind with an understanding that each patient is unique and should be treated as such. I believe my purpose is to work with the patient to develop a treatment plan specific to the individuals needs.
My practice includes child, adolescent, and adult patients. During your initial visit we will discuss your current concerns and assess the biological, psychological, developmental, and social factors that contribute to your concerns. We will then work collaboratively to establish a comprehensive plan to address each of these factors and discuss the role of medication and psychotherapy in your treatment. While I believe medications play a significant role in psychiatric treatment, I tend to maintain a strong focus on psychotherapy, as this is a powerful tool for promoting lasting change and emotional well-being.
