Are you or a loved one feeling overwhelmed? Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, chronic health issues, cognitive or behavioral changes that don't seem to get better no matter what you do, no matter what treatments you have tried, no matter how hard you have worked to get better? Perhaps you just don't have the energy to even try any longer. Moving forward and feeling better can feel impossible given all the other physical, social and environmental stressors we face. So many of us feel hidden from view, like we are suffering in silence. If this describes you, you are not alone. I see you.

I see individuals starting at age 0-65 years old (babies, young children, adolescents, and adults). Although I do not prescribe medication for children under the age of 7, I do perform psychiatric evaluations, provide environmental and behavioral modification treatment plans, and provide parents with tools for young children with complexities. I incorporate family dynamics into my planning. I am a proponent of early intervention for concerns of adaptability. I also prioritize long-term cognitive and memory health and enjoy working with older adults as well.

Together, we explore a blend of medication management, CBT principles, mindfulness, and holistic approaches that consider the whole you.
Feeling like you're under a constant cloud, struggling to find a bit of sunshine? You're not alone. Many of us move through life carrying a weight only we can see, silently questioning if anyone else could truly understand. Recognizing and seeking help for these feelings is a brave step. Imagine for a moment the possibility of lightening this load, allowing your true self to shine through once again. My practice is built on a foundation of compassion using a client-centered approach. We focus on creating a partnership where you feel seen and understood.

I tend to use humor combined with CBT techniques for therapy.
We all have a story, what's yours? I believe that we are all shaped by what we have experienced, been through, and accomplished. My practice name is Mythos Behavioral Health because "mythos" is the Greek word meaning "a set of stories relevant to or having a significant truth or meaning" or "A recurring theme". My ideal client is one who is open to sharing their story as part of the healing process. By understanding how you got to where you are, we can move forward to where you want to be. This applies to all people regardless of age, sex, or diagnosis.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Psychiatrists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
