I am a board cert psychiatrist w/ 29 yrs of experience, incl: 3 yr residency in internal medicine (board cert, 2000) and exposure to alt approaches/diverse populations (Native American, holistic eating disorder facility, students, inner-city crisis work) who loves to learn/listen (courses: EMDR-basic, dissoc, addictions, personality, chronic illness, attachment; DBT; CBT; mindfulness, lifestyle, communication, evid-based non-pharm). I apply all of this when I assess and assist you to capitalize on strengths, gain resilience, dive deep into psyche/your past/struggles, process trauma, learn skills, broaden perspective and agency.
I sought out board certs in both psychiatry and internal medicine because of my interest in the mind-body connection. In 2009, I developed complications of my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and had to learn to change my own perspectives/lifestyle dramatically to calm an overactive/sensitive nervous system so I could heal. A 2 hr comp assessment allows me to get to know you in a relaxed setting and develop a holistic plan which can include eclectic therapy (EMDR, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, experiential, etc.), lifestyle balancing, social/communication enhancement, evidence-based pharm/non-pharm options to boost well being and balance the nervous system.
