It can sometimes be overwhelming dealing with the circumstances of life. Sometimes depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship troubles, insomnia, caregiver and work stress among other things can pile up so high that it’s hard to see ahead to better days. But you don’t have to do this alone. Those who have a network of support recover better from mental health struggles than those trying to do it alone. And YOU are now taking the first step at expanding your support network It is my goal that through our work together, you will experience rising hope, and that tomorrow will be better than today!

I love to work with adult individuals who are seeking growth and healing in their personal, social and professional lives. I help clients gain insight and heal by understanding their emotions and leaning into their values and strengths. I also work with adult couples who are experiencing issues such as conflict, parenting, intimacy challenges, and breaches of trust. Couples can alleviate their distress by understanding and conveying their emotions and needs more clearly so that they can feel closer and more loved. My role is to serve as your bridge to understanding and connection.

Hi, I am Bandana. I am a caring and compassionate therapist who offers empathetic and respectful ears while we embark on this journey of change that you want to achieve. Are you tired of constantly racing negative thoughts and self-criticism? Does your brain drain you out replaying the social interactions you had earlier with your colleague/friend/family, and interpreting every interaction as worst-case scenarios? Are you a constant/frequent worrier and feel the need to worry about every small thing? Have you experienced trauma and are looking for a safe space to open up? Have you lost someone close and are unable to grieve?

My private practice work focuses on older adults, those living with mental health concerns, cognitive impairment, and the family members and caregivers who support them. I also support individuals navigating grief and loss, including anticipatory and ambiguous loss related to life transitions, illness, aging, and caregiving. I understand how overwhelming it can feel.

At certain times in their lives, people experience problems that are too difficult to handle alone. When their usual modes of coping no longer work for them, they feel overwhelmed and may want to learn new ways of coping through psychotherapy. Even though ways of responding based on past experiences may no longer be helpful, people tend to repeat old patterns of behaving, thinking and feeling. In psychotherapy I can assist you to understand these "habits", to see alternatives and to change.

You may have spent years feeling different, overwhelmed, or misunderstood without knowing why. Maybe you're questioning whether ADHD or Autism could explain experiences you've carried for a long time. Maybe you're navigating the emotional impact of infertility, pregnancy loss, abortion, endometriosis, PMDD, PCOS, or another reproductive health challenge that others don't fully understand. Whatever brings you here, you don't have to make sense of it alone.

I support individuals who are looking to better understand how past experiences, stress, or overwhelming emotions may be shaping their current patterns, relationships, and sense of self. Many of my clients are seeking a therapy experience that feels both structured and supportive—one that helps them feel safe enough to do deeper work, while also building practical tools for relief, resilience, and meaningful change.

Often, my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, burdened by past traumas, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. They yearn for relief, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose. Many seek a path toward self-acceptance, healthier relationships, and a more balanced life. Their goals are as unique as their stories—some wish to break free from chronic stress or persistent sadness, while others hope to reconnect with their bodies and build resilience from the inside out. Ultimately, they desire meaningful change and the skills to navigate life's challenges with greater ease and confidence.

I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is one of listening compassionately and non-judgementally, asking questions, and gently guiding you as you look deeper at the challenges confronting you. We work together in the therapeutic space, using techniques appropriate for your unique situation; we might set goals, or simply explore more deeply whatever brings you to counselling. I consider it a privilege to do this work, and I look forward to sharing it with you.

If you’ve been carrying more than you expected — stress, grief, anxiety, or the emotional impact of a difficult life or medical experience — you may be wondering how to feel like yourself again. Many people reach out when they feel overwhelmed or changed after something hard has happened. Others come because illness, caregiving, or hospitalization has affected their sense of safety, identity, or family relationships. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Accepting virtual clients only. I work with individuals 16+ who are currently experiencing or have experienced difficultly in their childhood. They often feel lost, stuck or find themselves in the same cycles that don't work for them, but they are unsure how to shift away from them. If you find yourself acting in a way that prioritizes others' needs, socially withdrawing when things get difficult or putting on a mask to hide how you’re feeling, you are not alone. I offer a safe space for you to share what is happening for you and what has happened to you. At your pace, we will discuss the past, present and the future you want.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
