I also I specialize in utilizing Mindfulness, ACT, CBT, DBT, and MI to help clients achieve their goals.
Life transitions, even the exciting ones, can present challenges we don't anticipate. If you're facing life changes, relationship challenges, or personal growth decisions l'm here to help you navigate this time. I particularly love working with Moms (prenatal & postpartum, those with young kids, and growing families), college students, and adults trying to find their place in the world. I use a holistic and client-centered approach & believe the therapeutic relationship is key to making progress. It's this fit between client & therapist that allows you to 'tell it like it is' and for me to provide the space for you to be real.

Using evidenced-based interventions like, CBT, DBT, Brainspotting and EMDR, you will gain insight and practical tools that can create immediate relief and freedom.
You ask yourself, "will it ever stop?" The racing thoughts...the knots in your stomach...the sense of urgency or lack of motivation...the paralyzing self-doubt and overwhelm. You’re easily triggered by those around you. It feels like you're on an emotional roller coaster. That intrusive voice is telling you that you’re not enough—you’ll never measure up. Perfectionism and procrastination keep you stuck. You find yourself in an unfulfilling job or relationship yet again. You long for connection, but are afraid of rejection. You seek comfort with alcohol, food, social media, work or shopping, but the feelings keep coming back.

Mary Pipher said "psychotherapy is a way of exploring pain and confusion to produce meaning and hope". All of us experience suffering, confusion, and pain. Therapy is a safe space to closely examine your story, to begin to heal your pain, and to find purpose and meaning from it all. I work with adolescents and adults struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, substance use disorders, and religious trauma. I am especially passionate about working with women who are seeking healing from trauma and striving to discover their own voice.

Are you sick of feeling too sensitive, emotional, and overwhelmed? Do you struggle to feel confident and sure of yourself? You wish you could get through all the responsibilities and expectations in a day, but it’s just too much. You’ve wondered how other people do it. How do they get everything done and not feel anxious and overwhelmed? The way it’s going just isn’t working and you want to feel better about yourself. You want to understand yourself more and feel more secure in who you are. I want that for you, too! Reaching out for support is a vulnerable act, and I appreciate your willingness to be vulnerable.

I seek to aid others in navigating the gray areas of life and all that encompasses. I believe that as humans, discomfort is inevitable, however suffering is not, and I hope to help clients create the safety and security within themselves to reduce suffering. I have found great joy in creating a compassionate, creative, and collaborative space to engage in this work with clients. As a naturally curious person, it is my goal to invite all the parts of you to be seen, heard, and attended to in the therapeutic space. I approach counseling from a humanistic perspective and incorporate parts work in my therapeutic style.

My approach is based in attachment theory and utilizes EMDR, mindful self-compassion, and cognitive-based interventions including ACT and DBT.
Hi, I’m Abby. I help people find ways of moving through pain more effectively and wholeheartedly. Experience working with psychiatric crises and severe & persistent mental illness taught me that presence and connection are possible amid deep emotional pain and the human capacity for meaningful change is remarkable. “You know that the antidote to exhaustion is not necessarily rest? … The antidote to exhaustion is wholeheartedness.” - David Whyte

Life can be challenging, especially when feelings of pain, confusion, sadness, and anxiety seem to hold us back. Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a highly effective, well researched therapy. The work demands a lot from Therapist and client. And it is worth it! I am trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, and Somatic Experiencing, as well as DBT skills trained.
Asking for help is sometimes difficult, and also powerful. Daily struggles with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, intrusive thoughts can become overwhelming. Complex trauma, substance use, eating disorders, unhealthy relationships, are among a few that can also keep us from our authentic self. In order to survive through all of this and keep going, it is common to adapt in ways that end up no longer working. We need help. That help comes from recognizing the gifts we have in ourselves and getting the gifts of others. My gift is to help others with aligning the head and the heart while healing to recognize authentic self.

My biggest hope is that you find healing and rest through working with me, and while I strive to meet you where you’re at and provide counseling based upon that, I use an attachment based approach along with EFT, ERP, ACT, and DBT modalities.
It’s taken me a long time to write this because I desperately wanted my bio to communicate my heart for counseling, people, and the work that I do, but I also feel that words fall short when you’re trying to communicate something so intimate. First of all, you are brave for taking a step toward deeper healing, and I am honored that you might consider me as a support alongside you in your journey. Whether this is your first time seeking counseling or your 10th time, I hope to encourage and help empower you in your fight to become who you want to be. Whatever next step you decide to take, I hope the best for you.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
