I enjoy working with clients who seek to grow emotionally, relationally and spiritually. I believe therapy is an opportunity to come alongside others to help them heal and grow. I am relational in my approach. I believe that people have been broken in relationships and that we are healed in the context of relationships. Over the past 19 years I have had many clients reach their goals and experienced transformation through the counseling process. There is no greater privilege than being able to walk beside people in their healing journey. Evening and weekday appointments available. Contact me via phone, text or email.

Many of our difficulties arise from our constant attempts to balance internal and relational needs with demands that work against us.
I often work with patients to examine longstanding difficulties, both with others and within their own selves. Such patterns often leave people feeling misunderstood, empty, lost, unheard, unseen, taken advantage of, stuck, angry, or resentful. Feeling this way can leave you feeling disconnected from and distrusting of others; even those who you love and want to feel close to. Many times, these pieces can be extremely difficult and even can feel impossible to share. And that's okay. We will work together to address what feels important to you and at your pace.

Queer relationships are as exciting as they are terrifying. No predetermined rules, roles, or rituals means we get to write the book. But what happens when we're confronted with endless possibility, little role modeling, & extremely high stakes? Writer's block. If you're in a queer partnership (this includes you queer folx in cit-het passing relationships) & you're looking to cultivate deeper intimacy with your partner(s), transform those pesky childhood strategies you've been using when things go sideways, determine if "monogamish" is a viable option, & let each other in as you heal from relational trauma, I've got you.

There has been numerous types of complaints I have engaged with clients in treatment, though some of my specialties include relational distress (couples/families), self-esteem/confidence concerns, anger management, low moods, anxieties, and trauma-stress related issues.
Do you find yourself struggling with overthinking, relationship satisfaction, or relieving past hurts or scary moments? Please know that you don't have to go through this. Establishing treatment with the goal to manage these symptoms, and in many cases eliminate the symptom is within reach. To wake up feeling light and burdensome free, without past hurts shadowing over your present is reason enough to establish care.

I invite you to reach out and we can explore what is possible on individual or relational levels.
Each person comes to individual therapy for numerous and very honest reasons, despite how overwhelmed and powerless they are feeling. It is okay to not know what to do or know what is next. Deep down, I believe that each one of us has the innate wisdom to know themselves and to know what to do next, under optimal conditions. Couples caught in a criticize-withdraw cycle are often doing what their survival instincts tell them to do. I am also highly trained in couples counseling and marriage counseling through emotionally focused therapy (EFT). Marital therapy and individual counseling need guidance from an empathic but neutral party.

My passion is in working with individuals and couples in need of resolving relational issues, whether it be in a coupleship, looking to become involved in a coupleship, relational issues with family members, relationships at work, or social relationships.
Addressing challenges in our personal life is not easy. While a common reaction to difficulties and challenges is to attempt to avoid them, it seldom solves the problem. Friends can help with some struggles in life, while other challenges need unbiased, emotional support from a professional. I utilize compassion and practical feedback to help you effectively address these difficulties and challenges. My style of therapy utilizes an eclectic approach to personalize and tailor the therapy to your needs. I help individuals and couples recognize and build on strengths to attain growth and help facilitate change to enrich your life.

I favor a relational, integrative approach tailored to best meet clients’ needs, so therapy is what you need it to be.
Parts of life can be incredibly hard and painful. We aren’t meant to go at it alone. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional suffering, self-worth, relationship difficulties, or generally feeling stuck in life. Or, you may be feeling disconnected from yourself and searching for self and purpose. I believe counseling is an opportunity to help people cope with life challenges, lessen pain, change in meaningful ways, AND experience joy and vitality.

The stories of our lives have a tremendous impact on who we are as people, and how we feel. As a narrative-based therapist, it is my privilege to be invited to witness your story and be part of the change that you are seeking. With training in marriage and family therapy comes a unique understanding of how relational experiences, how you grow up, communities, and society as a whole can impact how each person interacts with and understands the world around them. I operate from a neurodivergent affirming and trauma-informed style, and seek to offer a compassionate and understanding atmosphere while inviting you to challenge yourself.

In our work together, we will explore the relational, behavioral, and situational patterns of conflict that continue to show up in our lives as well as what prevents their resolution.
Thank you for visiting my page. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been in practice for over 15 years. My aim is to guide and support clients in gaining powerful insights, growing in self-awareness, cultivating a deeper connection to themselves and others, and ultimately, moving toward lasting change. My therapeutic approach is psychodynamically oriented and strengths-based. I believe that our past deeply informs our present. As such, examining and unpacking the foundational experiences and relationships in our lives often aids in unlocking the consciousness needed to live more authentically and fully.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
