Counseling is a space used to move into deeper connection with yourself and to release old patterns of being that no longer serve you. I believe when you gain self-regulation skills, self-awareness, and self-acceptance, then you can create the change you seek and experience more freedom/ease. My hope is that you feel safe and fully accepted in my presence so you can explore the more painful parts of your life and honor your strengths. My approach to counseling is client driven and collaborative. I use mindfulness, somatic-based, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed interventions with clients.

I have been providing therapy in Montana for 30 years. I was Director of Services for the Mental Health Center in Choteau for 5 years before going into private practice in 1995. Practicing in a rural area is a lot like being a country "doc", you treat "everything that walks in the door". This has given me a wide range of experience with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, self-esteem issues, childhood abuse, domestic violence, behavior problems, and life transitions. I have a wholistic, eclectic approach fitting the therapy to the client rather than fitting the client to the therapy.

Reaching out for support during challenging times can be difficult, especially when we are overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain or disconnected. Therapy can be a starting point in taking steps toward growth and healing. We must begin somewhere, and I believe we have the inner resources and capacity to create the life we want. I am honored to work with individuals who are ready to empower themselves and make conscious efforts in cultivating something different in their lives. Together, we will be curious about your past experiences, make sense of the present, and use your resiliency and strengths to help you discover a unique path forward.

With 25 years of expertise working in the social work field, I am passionate about attachment-based work---whether that's exploring your early childhood experiences to find healing and understanding, or taking your experience of your own attachment history and using it as a lens through which to examine your current relationships with your children or partner. I enjoy focusing on the bonds that develop between parents and children, as well as the relationship we have with ourselves. In helping clients realize that big emotions and behaviors are often indicative of unmet needs, I aim to empower clients to meet those needs.

"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf." ~John Kabat-Zinn. Are you stuck in the past or always living in the future? Would you like to feel rooted, at peace and content? Have you been contemplating recovery but do not know where to begin or have you recently relapsed and need to get back on track? Feeling stressed and overwhelmed is a normal part of life, and how can you build a higher level of tolerance?
