I work with couples, adults, kids, and families dealing with disruptive events, situations, and behaviors. Some of these situations are typical life transitions: entering adolescence, a new child in the family, school and work conflicts, or life-stage changes. Other transitions are more obviously traumatic: medical crises, chronic illness, infidelity, or the dissolution of long-term relationships. I work with patients that have long-term, debilitating mental illnesses, and patients that have more situational or transitional difficulties. I welcome clients who are struggling with parenting plan issues and post-divorce conflict.

I work with adult men and women that are ready to work through trauma, depression, anxiety, identity development, emotional regulation skills and addiction. I also work with couples to help their relationship become more healthily attached. The Gottman Method and EFT therapy are two approaches to couples counseling that I have received training, and apply to my work with couples. I am also EMDR trained, and work with individuals in their trauma through an EMDR lens.

My focus is above all to offer therapy which empowers individuals. This starts with genuinely respecting your autonomy and right to choose your own path. Whether you're getting by "good enough" in your life but still find yourself discontent and aren't sure why, or you're dealing with mental illness (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma) which is beginning to unravel your relationships and your life. You may seek short-term symptom relief, and this will always be respected, on the other hand, you may choose to dive deeper to clarify and work on the root of a reoccurring problem. Either way, I'm here to help.

As an MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist) Intern, I am supervised by Dr. Darren Adamson (SMFT), Dr. Meg Williams (SMFT), and Terry Spring (LCPC) with Terry Spring Therapy. Along with my education, they provide expert guidance to help me help you.

One thing in life is certain, life doesn't unfold like we thought it would. I have over 22 years of experience. I have worked in a mental health hospital, adolescent boys ranch, Cancer Treatment Center, counseling office and counseled as a pastor. I am passionate about working with individuals who are suffering in a variety of ways--past trauma, addiction, life circumstances changing, adults who are struggling to find their place in the world, and ready to stop repeating the same old patterns which bring them back to the same old place. I am able to provide both mental health and addictions counseling. Main modality of treatment is Cognitive Behavior Therapy. EMDR trained. I have been licensed addictions counselor for 5 years am working toward licensure for mental health and marriage and family therapy (PLCP). I assist clients with addiction, relationship issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Skilled at teaching coping skills and working on thinking errors.

I hold a MA degree in Social Science from the University of Chicago, and a MSW in Clinical Social Work from the University of Denver. I have served as president of the National Association of Social Workers, Montana Chapter, and on several national NASW committees. After serving as director of the local mental health center and teaching part time in the Sociology Department at Carroll College, I started my own private practice: Adult and Child Counseling Service.

I am a licensed psychologist who has worked with adults and teen for over 25 years. Prior to life in Montana and Oregon, I was at Stanford Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, where I was awarded a fellowship following my clinical internship at University of New Mexico Medical. I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Oregon. I have worked with clients in various clinical settings, given national and international talks, facilitated many group therapy sessions and workshops for families, parents, and couples. I have been in private practice since 2014. I love what I do.

As a play therapist, my goal is to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for children and adolescents to express themselves and heal using their primary language: Play. Although appropriate for adults, traditional talk therapy can prove difficult for children and adolescents.
